hold on i need to talk about the wasian "discourse" on instagram because it's driving me up a wall and I need to just word vomit for a second. Was the "wasian meet up" weird and exclusionary? Yes it was, I totally get what people mean when they say they got weird vibes from it. Is the reason wasians having a spotlight in pop culture right now due to our proximity to whiteness? Also yes. But that's not inherently a problem with wasians, we're not choosing to center our whiteness by existing (although wasians can center their whiteness the act of just existing is not that) that is 100% on the media if they choose to center our whiteness over us being asian.
Also the way I've seen people imply we aren't actually asian or bipoc is so fucking racist, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend it's not fucking racist (and to be clear I'm not saying nor implying that this is a experience specific to wasians)
While I do think there's a lot of colorism and internalized racism in the wasian community and there are valid criticisms being brought up that's not an excuse to deny us our asian identity
People also keeping saying that wasians are "flexing they're white" or "proud to be white" and look I'm not proud to be half white but there's no use in denying that I am half white because that helps literally no one!
