Thought I'd take a moment to check in. Lots of good things happening and very little time to post about them. Yesterday I packed up 5 pieces of the new work and sent them to the Charlie Cummings Gallery for "CupVIII: An Intimate Object." This is my first time in the show. 217 artist each with 5 cups. The show opens on October 8th and is online exclusive. I can tell you how deeply honored I am to be included in this show. To be showing next to so many of my idols is like a dream. The quality of makers in this show is unbelievable. On Friday, September 1st, the cup show "Conductivity" opens at The Companion Gallery in Humbolt, TN. It focuses on clay cups that utilize copper glazes. Some of my fav. glazes! I believe cups are available for online purchases the day after the opening. I will have 3 pieces in that show. Again a crazy huge honor. It's the first time I've had work at the CG and it's long been one of my goals to get my work in Eric Botbyl's place. Grateful! The "Tea Bowl National" opens on October 6th. I've seen the work. There are some great pieces and some great makers in that show as well. My second consecutive year being included. I have two pieces in this show as well. These shows have some of the best pieces I've ever made in them. I'm immensely proud of the work I have in them. It feels a bit crazy to be showing with such great artists. It's always been my goal to make do so however I believe my work stands up to their's. All my time and education. All my blood, sweet, and tears. The years barely scraping by, I do it all to live this life doing something I truly love. I make the most difficult pot I can. I put my best into it every time. I never make the same thing twice and don't care to. No one can make my pots but me. Took me along time to get there and I certainly didn't alway feel this way.
