Blocking should be a tool for safety, not a declaration of war. People use it to protect their peace, set boundaries, and curate their space—and that’s valid. Responding with guilt trips, sulking, or nastiness only proves why the block was needed in the first place. Everyone deserves to feel safe online, even if that means they choose not to engage with you.

… Really? How can I, if ya’ll don’t put trigger warnings on your sexually violent content?

I’ll be going on hiatus for awhile.

Coming on this site has started to feel more like sticking my hand into a bucket of barbed wire than a fun time. Curating your experience is impossible when dark content is posted without trigger warnings. It makes protecting your mental health impossible. A content warning the least you can do to avoid dragging up trauma for your followers. Yet, some blogs are so causal about their content - even though it’s extremely disturbing - that they don’t label it. I can understand that to them it’s normal. But to some of us, it’s disturbing and harmful. No one else is going to look out for my mental health for me, so I’m going to take responsibility for what I can control (my experience) and take a much needed break from Tumblr. Indefinitely.

This hiatus is because I need to take a step back, and re-evaluate my relationship with this website, it’s content, and it’s creators. I’m beginning to recognize that it might not be the best idea for me to continue on here, given what I’m exposing myself to.

This cushion cover has a special place in our hearts. The cyanotype process still enchants us completely - no matter how many times we’ve done it, we never get used to the feeling of seeing our image developed, and the results are always different. This particular piece of fabric was left out in the midday summer sun for a bit longer than usual, and a good thing too, just look at those beautiful colours, there’s depth and tonal changes that couldn’t have been planned if we tried!
