HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I HAVE FINISHED IT IT LOOKS SO GOOD I LOVE IT I could have added more depth to the reef, but I’m very comfortable with this as a finished product. This is the picture I based this piece off of:

Heartslabyul Dorm Kitchen in Pixel Form!
This one was very hard due to all the little details. I even had to learn some new skills to accomplish my goals in an easier and more efficient way. (Tinted glass is so much easier to achieve with an opacity filter!!) But I love how it turned out. There’s a lot of little details I missed or that couldn’t translate well, but I’m so proud of how well I did. Here’s the photo I used for reference:
After my journey with pixel art for this kitchen, I’ve deduced that Trey truly emulates the mad hatter because only someone truly mad could use this kitchen as frequently as he does.
Update on my pixel art journey
I’m loving how this piece is turning out - The askew rugs of Ramshackle were hard but so rewarding to configure. Ahhhhh! I’m having fun with this.
10 points if you can guess which room I’m doing next
I started fuckin’ around with pixel art because I’m learning game design, so I decided that I’mma try to recreate Ramshackle’s dorm vibe in pixel art to train myself better. This is what I’ve done so far. I saw this style of cubic room being done by @tofupixel and I loved their work and their general 2x1 pixel scaling for 3D pixel art pieces. They aren’t a fandom artist, but if you love pixel art, I highly recommend looking at their stuff. 10/10 This was the piece of theirs that got me really pumped about trying pixel art: https://tofupixel.tumblr.com/post/692399233763049472/they-put-me-on-radar-again-wtf Reference photo I’m using for this pixel art piece:
I wanted to test how changing colors/designs can change assets and decided to take the piece I already made and see what it would look like if the Scarabia dorm decorated it. I drew colors from multiple Scarabia Dorm screenshots. Very happy with how it came out. It’s funny how one dorm’s color scheme can change everything. Kinda makes me wanna mock up other squares for the other dorms and see what they look like in different colors. The sheer fabric was so fuckin’ cool. I had a hunch how to do it, but making it become a reality was so much more exciting than I anticipated. It’s so gaudy and gold. I love it.
THE PRE-LIGHTING STAGE IS DONE, HAHAHA Some notes; - Those couches were a bitch and a half but the payoff was amazing and now I have that sprite for whenever I wanna use it. It’s so amazing. I love that couch. - Doing this project made me realize that the swoopy railing is meant to simulate waves and that’s so clever and cute - I’ve got lots of little items I need to put into the bar area, but I think those can wait a little longer. Finishing touch type stuff. I kinda wanna get the lighting done so I can see this piece really come alive, and then add in the littler bits so I can make them look right in the light sources - Upon closer inspection, one of the light sources in the picture are JELLYFISH OCTOPUS CHANDELIERS - THEY’RE SO COOL HOLY SHIT I’m so pumped to make the water area behind just light UP with color. Ahhhhhhhhh
I’ve decided to challenge myself with the Mostro Lounge at night as a theme to play around with. I’m also using a new program (Pixilart.com), so we’ll see how well this goes. I already had to throw it into paint to put in the curves surfaces, but some of that I had to do by hand because I had to edit it after I put it back in and it was just an assortment of shenaniganery. Lmfaooo The challenge with the Mostro Lounge at night theme, is that there’s all different kinds of light sources, and you have to do gradients for them from the light source to the shadow. It’s forcing me to think about light sources too, which I haven’t really done previously aside from flat coloring. Light bouncing off of objects is important for detail, and so hard to get with pixels - But this is a really fun exercise. And really great for practicing that skill. The size of my cube’s probably gonna get bigger as I work on this piece. Maybe I’ll make it taller so I can attempt some of the bigger background stuff. 👀 Image I’m using as reference:
That bar backer is a kick in the ass. Angled curves are HARD. Hahahahahahaha
