This week's rain was a drop in bucket compared to what LA and the entire state need to make up for years of drought. But maybe if the rainfall were to be augmented, say, by a ton of water shipped in from a pristine Alaskan lake, we'd feel a little relief. This week, U.S. Representative Janice Hahn got together with reps from the Ports of LA and Long Beach, the Metropolitan Water District, and two other water districts to talk about making that happen, discussing options for taking an Alaskan company up on their offer to send a tanker full of water from a non-drought-stricken Alaskan lake to Southern California, says the Daily Breeze.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are reportedly both still living in their big old Pacific Palisades spread post-divorce-announcement, but they're ready to get rid of it anyway. Variety hears that they're quietly shopping the place around for way more than twice what they paid—producer Brian Grazer sold them the compound in 2009 for $17.55 million.

At that time, it included a five-bedroom, Ranch-style main house designed by Ranch-spert Cliff May in the late 1930s; another building with office, art studio, gym, and bathrooms; and an underground guesthouse with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, an entertainment lounge, and a screening room; a giant terrace and lawn; and a pool. And it all sits on more than three acres on a "private promontory that overlooks rustic Sullivan Canyon."

Affleck and Garner are looking to get rid of the place for something like $45 million.

El Segundo's 'The Point,' a new outdoor shopping center designed by Architects Orange of the city of Orange, recently opened its doors to the general public. Equipped with 30 shops and restaurants in 115k square feet, developers Federal Realty Investment Trust hope to make this South Bay's 'living room' hosting communal events such as movie nights and summer concerts. Minecraft creator Markus Persson outbid them (JayZ & Bey) on a flashy megamansion in Beverly Hills (he paid $70 million), so they've been living in a hotel in BH since they got to town.

Jigga got outbidded by the creator of Minecraft? How sad and awesome altogether. Those silly gamers are hardly silly with their successes.
