Wouldn’t Emma potentially have the power of immortality, given her father? Just curious. With Killian about to crush his heart... I’m having a hard time fathoming where the Enchanteds would be cool with a newly mortal sovereign and his blended wife, based on what we read before. Even if CS had children, would the Enchanteds be ok with mortal children ruling over their immortal selves? Will this be explained in your last chapter?
Hey there, Nonny! Great questions!
While I won’t be addressing each of these things specifically in the last chapter (some I will, but not others), you will get general answers that I think covers everything you’re curious about. You’re always welcome to send me Asks after the final chapter is up for anything you’d like clarified. I’ll do my best to answer!
Thank you for reading and sending me your thoughts and quandaries!!
Hmmm, invoking an Enchanted’s name makes them yours to command. Where have a heard this before? You wouldn’t be influenced by 5A, now would you?! Would you!!!! Cause we know how well that nearly ended for everyone when Killian felt he was being controlled. *narrows eyes suspiciously* I’m watching you friend. 😂
I have no idea as to what you are referring, Nonny...
Will we get to find out what happened to the rest of the humans who have disappeared when they lived at the cottage/ventured into the woods?
Yes. I can share one answer with you now, the other will have to wait.
Below the cut since it contains spoilers from the recent chapter.
No one else has lived in the cottage. After Snow and David died, it fell into Killian’s care (though the Village elders considered it their property since it had been owned by a member of the village, Snow), and no one from the village was ever interested in it until Emma. As far as the villagers are concerned, Snow vanished without a trace. In reality, Killian took her and David’s bodies into the Enchanted realm for burial. He then cast a sort of creepy allure over the place to repel Mortals, but as we know... Emma is only half Mortal, so the spell didn’t affect her as it did the others.
Tales about the cottage became inflated over the years, because of its proximity to the forest and the fact that others have actually disappeared from the village without a trace. Some for less sinister reasons than others...
Why was Killian passing through the arch when Emma was born! For what purpose? And how did Charming get Killian to make a promise so freely? I realize you’re not gonna answer this now but Killian is so mysterious in this story. Willingly creating a bond of service seems quite unlike him considering canon. I’m really curious about who he really is in the context of the Enchanted realm. Is he possibly titled? Higher up in the realm’s hierarchy than he lets on? I wanna knowwwwwwwwwww
Answers as to why Killian was passing through the arch will be coming soon!
In Snow’s desperation she invoked the power to command Killian, by placing the demand on his name. Remember, to have an Enchanted’s name is to have the ability to control the. This command essentially left him no choice but the oblige. David, knowing the burden his wife’s words had put on Killian, basically asked him to consider it a vow, to not just make it a command he had no choice in, but to give his word that even without the command he would do this freely for his prince. Killian was already bonded by Snow (who was dying, so let’s cut her some slack), but he chose to consider it a vow instead.
I hope that clears that up a bit??
A more thorough look into Killian’s past is coming up in the next couple chapters, but for now… #nospoilers!
Thank you for reading and for sending me you comments and speculations! I love hearing what y’all think!
I confess...I really hope Emma’s half Enchanted blood gives her immortality. The idea of Killian being alone forever after a certain point is too much to bear! Honestly, I just need to them to kick apparently everyone’s ass (Mortal and Enchanted alike, sounds like no one is perfect on either side, right?) get married and have many many fat and cute babies. But I’m not greedy or anything😂.
I feel ya, Nonny! No one wants Killian to be alone, no matter how much he might think he's unworthy of her companionship.
You are correct, the Enchanted and Mortals alike each have their own struggles with darkness, evil, and prejudice. Neither side is perfect, but there is always hope that people (or Enchanteds) can change.
No promises on a marriage or many cute fat babies Nonny, but I appreciate you reading and sharing your thoughts with me!
Are we going to be getting a new chapter of The Cottage tonight?
Unfortunately not.
Between birthday hoopla and soloing the adulting and parenting responsibilities (my husband is out of town), I didn’t get a chance to write these past two days.
I’m going to do my best to get you a new chapter tomorrow, though!
I am LOVING The Cottage. I’m so intrigued by the schism. I hope Emma and Killian are able to fix it so the ignorant villagers (realm of humans?) can see there is nothing to be afraid of. Maybe Emma is supposed to be that bridge? She’s supposed to live in the Cottage after all. I’m now so curious about Killian’s past. I see tinges of self-loathing in him. It seems very unusual that he made a vow regarding a human given the info in (1/2)
Ch 9, so what was his vow? Is Emma even fully human? I’d break my heart if she is fully mortal and Killian is an immortal Enchanted. They’ve kissed twice and now they need to be together forever ;) Can’t wait for more! (2/2)
I love that you’re loving it, Nonny! More information about the schism and the war will be revealed in the next chapter update.
You are not wrong about the tinge’s of self-loathing, and yes, Killian’s past and his relationship with Mortals is... complicated. I know there is a lot of speculation regarding both he and Emma, and I promise answers are coming! As well as more questions, I’m sure.
