Did you enjoy the finale my dear? :D You've probably already said, but I also apologise for unfollowing as I wasn't caught up and was being super careful not to get it spoiled. But I'm all caught up and thought I'd ask your opinion on it :D

Oh hi!! No need to apologize. You gotta do what you gotta do to keep yourself spoiler-free, and I envy your self-control because I have none. Also, in the future, if you ever see me posting stuff like that without tagging, give me a heads up. I try to tag all my stuff really, really well, but I’ve only been on tumblr for a year and a half or so, so I’m not perfect.

OOOH no one ever asks me stuff like this, and I’m not good at sharing my random thoughts like everyone else is.

In general, I thought the finale was really good. I felt like a kid on an adventure watching Henry start his hero’s journey. We knew he was gonna beat the Author and meet up with his au!family and it was immensely fun to watch. We pretty much 98% predicted au!Charming killing au!Hook, and the ending, but the rest of the stuff was fun television. More specifically:

Au!Enchanted Forest:

Loved Ginnifer as au!Snow. She really conveyed a quiet, terrifying intensity that was so different than Regina as The Evil Queen, so it didn’t feel like she was mimicking Lana. Josh was good too. Oddly hot.

I was so happy Emma had her memories, and didn’t expect her to be fulfilling the role of the Mad Hatter, in a way. When the promo pics and spoilers came out, there were a lot of assumptions that she was a pirate or a pirate captain or an evil witch or something, and it just didn’t ring true for me. I like what they did with her.

au!Killian (deckhand!Hook haha) was hilarious. Colin O’donoghue is amazing. The way he was holding the sword over his head in the background during Emma’s confrontation with au!Charmings was an awesome touch. It was nice to see him all flustered and shy and stammer-y around Emma, for sure, but personally I prefer our Hook and his natural confidence and charm. ;)  That being said, Killian Jones is strong enough to overcome a.) his HEART BEING CONTROLLED BY THE DARK ONE enough to reach out to the woman he loves and b.) the way he was written by the Author to be willing to overcome his cowardice, risk his life for Henry and Emma, and sacrifice himself—all on blind faith that it would be worth it.

I’m a passive OQ shipper, so the Regina stuff I wasn’t crazily invested in, as I was so concerned with where Emma was. But her sacrificing herself for Henry was nice obviously.

Annoyed that Gold doesn’t appear to have learned anything, but as a well-trained English major, I’m always willing to listen to textual evidence arguing that he has.

BUT WHERE WAS EVIL!BLUE FAIRY AND EVIL!TINK?  THESE ARE THINGS I NEED.

Storybrooke:

I’m of the mind that Emma chickening out on the “I love you” in the loft was more the writers wanting viewers to have the reaction we had (“NOOOOOOO EMMA TELL HIM TELLLL HIIIIIIMM”) and to save it for the angsty finale, where it admittedly had a LOT of punch (to the gut). I’m not gonna go out of my way to fanwank that she was still scared and walls and yadda yadda yadda. I appreciated that the show implied Emma has had these feelings for a LONG time, and just hasn’t said the words, and that we heard her admit her love for him before that last final moment. That made it different for me than the Neal “ILU” or the “Mom/Dad” in 2x22). I honestly think Emma would have said it upon leaping into Killian’s arms, but you know, obviously the writers are creating a show, and they need to direct the characters and plot to their desired result. In my opinion, that’s mostly what this was.

The last scene, with the way it was shot and the music, was really really cool.  The darkness crawling all over Emma, biting her, smothering her, making her cry out in shock/pain—it was tough to watch. So foreboding, that last shot of Killian’s face and then Emma’s name on the dagger. I can’t wait to see how it pans out. I’m guessing it’ll be a hell of a ride. I just feel so sad for her family and Killian.

Needed more kissin’.

Poor Henry, having to now go through what Baelfire went through (as in a parent becoming the Dark One), although I think it’ll break the cycle and go much, much differently. Emma has so many people who love her and will fight to bring her back to the light.

Emma Swan is a hero and better than all favs. She fucking sacrificed herself to save EVERYONE from the darkness. She is not perfect. She wouldn’t claim to be. But my god, she is an amazing woman.

Have you gifted the whole scene from Good Form with Hook and Pan where he says 'she's finally seeing me for the man I am' and pan replies 'a one-handed pirate with a drinking problem'? If you haven't that'd be a great gifset :)) thank you if you get round to giffing it <3 I love your blog btw it's great!

Absolutely! I've never giffed that one before and I really like that scene (the SASS).
