occasionally, the rival pair would fight together; their teamwork, though not admitted personally by either, were close to perfection when no words would be exchanged and only full concentration were put into the battle. this was one of these instances and the end result? a victory, of course, but also at the cost of their own stamina and multiple of injuries as always. the cook, specifically, took blows harsher than his own. he doubt the blond would ever say so, though the wobble in his steps made it obvious. zoro rolled his eyes and moves to provide aid for once despite the immediate protests.

he rests the cook against a building before taking a seat next to him, deciding to take a breather himself and recover so they could move onward after ( he was not worried about the cook, absolutely not. ) while waiting, the swordsman decided to examine his blades, checking to see if there were any damage; at this point, he’s confident there would be none, but it never hurts to make sure. in the midst of doing so, locks tickled his neck and caused him to jump from startle. shockingly, the cook rested his head against his shoulder. the cook … ! there was a momentary pause, from both astonishment and to see if he would move away by himself, but when he did not, zoro took measures himself and was about to push the blond’s head in the other direction.

a second glance to the exhaustion portrayed on the other’s face stopped him though, all the bite was burnt out due to the battle and there – an asleep, tranquil cook ( a side he probably would’ve been better off not seeing because of it’s… abnormality… to him, anyway. ) catching himself looking for a tick too long, he immediately snaps his eye back to the sword in hand. he would allow the cook to rest against him for now, but if he was to wake and blame him for their position, he’d make sure to refuse any type of closeness ( to this proximity ) in the future.

he's confused he's frustrated. he just wants to make sure what he's got for luffy is real. therefore he grabs the marimo's head in both hands & kisses him hard. " ugh... i did not like this " [ BLAME LACIE ]

the cook approached him at an alarming speed and he probably should taken notice of that, but he learned and seen the many unusual things his crew mates do that the pace the other was going at left him unfazed. instead, the moment zoro spots him, there was already an unapologetic statement leaving his mouth. ‘ oh, cook. i ran out of sake to drink so i took a coupl…. – ??! ’

( yes, his crew mates do weird things on a daily basis, but there was no way to predict this. )

his hands were quick to act, pushing the cook’s face away almost immediately after his momentary shock at the transpired events. ‘ you !! what the fuck was that ?! ’
