Oliver's human life was spent entirely in poverty and it’s a major factor in his vanity and hedonism now. As far as he’s concerned, offing himself and becoming a Reaper is the greatest thing that ever could have happened to him.

⚖: Has your muse broken the law before? Broken a vow or promise?
… He hasn’t broken a law yet (as far as Reapers are concerned - Victorian England would say differently), but he will. A vow, he would do his very best to keep, but he hasn’t made any that he can recall. Promises are trickier. He’s sure he’s made a few that he’s forgotten to keep or wasn’t entirely genuine in making in the first place, but probably none of any importance.

He has his flaws, but most of them are things that would be considered positive traits if he weren’t a Reaper, so he does consider himself good.

Sadness is definitely the hardest emotion for Alan to deal with because it’s the least acceptable for him to have, the one most tied to empathetic response. He doesn’t consider himself a crier, but this is largely because he bottles up his emotions as best he can. He knows how much of a relief a good cry can be, he just makes sure to be completely alone when he has them. A smoke helps, though he’d never admit to the habit.

★ - sad headcanonAlan thinks often about how he wants to die, since it’s an inevitability. If someone asked at a vulnerable time, he might admit that he hopes he passes peacefully in his sleep, but that’s not entirely true. He wants to go out fighting, with dignity, doing what he was created to do. He hopes a demon takes him in the field. He doesn’t want to be remembered as succumbing to the Thorns.
☠ - angry/violent headcanonAlan’s fuse is short. When faced with a fight-or-flight situation, he usually chooses fight and, without his scythe, he’s more likely to kick than throw a punch.At times when he can’t release that anger physically immediately, such as when the person the disagreement is with is of higher rank than he is, he maintains a cool exterior until he’s alone, then turns that rage (which, by then, it is, as it’s been pent up for some time) toward inanimate objects or, at his worst, himself.
♒ - cooking/food headcanonAlan can’t cook worth a damn. Baking, however, he’s very comfortable with. The intuition that’s such a crucial part of cooking meals doesn’t come to him naturally; he prefers having precise measurements and times laid out in front of him. He’s as much a recipe-follower as he is a rule-follower and he never doctors things up. The instructions were written that way for a reason.
