Book I'm Currently Consuming: "The Day the Falls Stood Still"
I realized that all of the books I've been reading this month are of the horror genre, so I decided to change my reading list for a while. OK, so yes, the books I've been reading are "Shivers" and one "Goosebumps", but even then, they are still horror books.
And then I realized (again, because I realized it once I had borrowed the books), that the other books I planned to read this month are also horror. These books include "False Memory" by Dean Koontz, and one book about strange crimes that have occurred in the world. (I think "False Memory" is a horror book, because that's the style that Dean Koontz writes).
I did not want to read another horror book, especially at night. I have too much imagination, that a lot of times I dream of anything that was last in my mind. So, yeah, I wanted a lighter read.
I searched through my books, and I ended up choosing "The Day the Falls Stood Still" (I bought it in October). I don't remember exactly what the book is about, because I didn't re-read the description, I just started reading the book. I do remember that the story involves the Niagara Falls.
I started reading the book last night, and I only read up to page 20. I like the book so far. It's a bit of a Romance book. Now, I don't usually read this genre, but every now and then, I don't mind reading one.
So this is what I know from what I read: The main story is about a girl, Bess, and she just found out that her father does not have a job anymore at the power company. She is used to lavish things, such as costly school, maids, and such. But now things are changing, including her mother now has to work. Also, her sister was to be married, but now her fiance called of the engagement. (I just read the description, and this is mainly what the book is about. It's about the way Bess' life has changed. It also deals with her interaction with a boy whom she liked since she first saw him).
I think the imagery in this book might be good. I like the cover of the book, and even the book itself. The color of the book is a light beige-y color, and in the spine, the name and author of the book (along with small designs) are etched in a rose gold color. Those details seem to really go along with the story.
Although I did want a break from horror books, I already want to read another horror book. Yes, I'm weird and contradict myself. Now, I don't like to read two or more books at a time; I'd rather just focus on reading one. I am able to read two or more books at a time, but I leave that for school books (where it's inexplicitly mandatory). But I think I might change that...for now. Since the "Shivers" books are easier to read, then I'll read those at the same time that I'm reading "The Day the Falls Stood Still". I'll just read the "Shivers" books by day, and the other one at night.
