In 1892, after getting fed up with Thomas Edison's smear campaign against his alternating current system, Nikola Tesla decided to take the high road and use Edison's phonograph to create the first ever mixtape under the pseudonym King Wizard. He went so funky on the beats that in 1893, the Westinghouse Corporation was awarded the contract to light the Chicago World's Fair.
Bored.

Watching the Current War, aka Benedict Cumberbatch channeling Tony Stark. And yet, the character of Edison can't really break free of the Doctor Strange mold, in my head. I guess he's more like Tony & Stephen's lovechild, than anything... Plenty of nice quotes in the movie, but my favorite quote from Edison goes like this, and makes me think of Stephen/Tony giving Peter a mission:
Find out what kind of men they are. There are really only two types. The first believe themselves to be practical, but they’re secret dreamers. They’re the ones who’ll take the risks. The second, well, they’ll smile, and thank you for the show, but they’ll vote with their wallets. [...] So your only real job is to look the dreamers in the eye and promise them magic.
BTW: Tom Holland emits strong Spider-Son energy.

so that ep was uh a LOT I'm honestly really glad to hear a more statement-based fic, even if it's not like the ones we're used to?? I absolutely loved everything about it, and it genuinely horrified me. it feels too easy that the next however many episodes will be them making their way through 13 other fears (14 with the extinction??), but I don't have an alternative theory at this point. I like the theory that the ringing phone is an army recruiter but I think it'll be a continuing thing, although I'm not sure who's responsible!! ahhhh!!! tbh I miss the statements we're used too and the archives, but I understand that for the story to progress and end we couldn't stay there forever.

The more I watch this film the more I love it. Apparently the creator behind Current War was also very cognizant of the importance of the women in the inventors' lives, too.
