I feel like as a fandom we do not talk about MAG 163 enough, out of all the episodes that is the most bonechilling one. Yes, the other Slaughter episodes talk about war and meaningless murder, but they do not highlight the same. The do not point out what each person feels nor how they view the enemy. And the bagpipes and gunshots playing throughout the episode? I do not usually feel the fear to my core during episodes, but this time it was so raw and real. Especially with everything happening right now in the world, that feeling of hopelessness that encompasses you, that lets you know that wars will keep happening again and again and nothing can stop the deepest and most primal instict of humanity to kill. Johnny really outdid himself here

Fear of war, I get that. Very much. In the last few days I have been thinking that so far, the fears we encounter are often very much individual, and very contained. I especially thought about how war other generalized violence doesn't feature much. Now I have an answer to that.

Slaughter statements that focus on war don’t capture my attention as easily as others do. The bits of this that I did catch were enjoyable though. A businessman congratulating you on your sacrifice as if your death had already been decided is horrifying.

The Slaughter statements that I enjoy the most are the ones that involve music. That’s why I got excited when I heard the bagpipes at the beginning and end of the episode. A sound so enchanting that it lures you to your doom, it’s like a siren’s song.

It’s cute that Martin likes to talk to the tape recorders but he should be more careful. They only appear when some crazy stuff is about to go down. What was up with the phone booth? Who would be trying to call him in the middle of the apocalypse? I bet the Eye was so mad when Martin didn’t answer the phone.
