Symbolism: The colors pay homage to the existing flag. The blue chevron represents the bend of the Scioto around Franklinton, and the red chevron represents forward motion, discovery and progress, tying into Columbus's identity as a forward-thinking community and sometimes-nickname the Discovery City. The star represents Columbus as the capital of Ohio, positioned in the red chevron to represent Columbus being at the forefront and leading the way. The three yellow stripes represent Columbus being the third capital city of Ohio.

Symbolism: I kept the original color scheme but the convergent blue lines represent to Olentangy and the Scioto rivers. The star is obviously the capital city at the confluence of the rivers. Kinda simple but flagmaker jr isn't the most versatile tool.

Symbolism: This concept stakes Columbus's claim to Columbus-style pizza.

The checkers represent the square cut pizza. Locating them centrally represents Columbus as (more or less) the center of Ohio. The yellow represents cheese. The red represents pepperoni and tomato sauce. The white ring represents the metal serving platter your pizza arrives on. The thin white bar represents the small portion of your clothes that aren't stained when you're done eating. The blue bar obviously represents the ocean that Christopher Columbus sailed across before founding our fair city and creating the first Columbus style pizza.

Look the important thing here is I took our current flags colors and made a pizza flag out of it and it looks ridiculously better than the existing flag.

Symbolism: Much of the symbolism of the original flag comes from the voyage of Christopher Columbus. The yellow, white, and red tricolor referencing the Spanish funding of the expedition, and in the seal is the Santa Maria, Columbus' flagship. Most of the redesigns I have seen on this sub keep the tricolor (or at least the color scheme) of the original, as I have also chosen to do. My replacement for the seal are three eight pointed stars in the shape of compass roses, symbolizing the feat of navigation that the voyage was, as well as its three ships. This is almost the same as Mr-LePresident's redesign, but with the added compass rose shaped stars, and without the circle that (I think) makes it look too similar to the element in the center of the Tennessee flag.

Symbolism:

The red represents Ohio traditions (especially the national champion OSU team). It also references the red in the Ohio flag. The yellow represents Columbus' inventiveness (Columbus has been rated the Smartest City in the World) and enthusiasm (as US soccer fans know, the Columbus Crew fans are some of the most passionate in the country). The "C" obviously represents "Columbus," and the inset "O" both references the city seal and it also represents the blue planet that Christopher Columbus explored.

Symbolism:

Blue ring surrounding scarlet circle: draws directly from Ohio's flag. The circle represents Columbus's place at the center and capital of Ohio. It also brings to mind the I-270 outerbelt, which people have been drawing for me any time I ask them to explain Columbus.

The blue ring is split into two parts (and makes a C):

The lighter blue section represents the Olentangy River. It is the color of the background of the Columbus seal.

The darker blue section represents the Scioto River. It is the blue from the Ohio (and by reference the US) flag. It has the shape of the river downtown.

The gold background is from the original city flag. It represents the value of the great people of Columbus, the foundation on which the city has been built.

The blue semi-circle represents the Scioto River, which is directly west of Broad Street and High Street. The red and white stripes to the right correspond with the seven members of city council. The star in the middle suggests the mayor’s office, or the executive branch of city government. The yellow blocking represents fields, and the left of the circle represents the peninsula of Franklinton, where the original settlement of Columbus was founded.
