FORGE. Art Magazine has teamed up with alternative comics publisher @2dcloud  and psychedelic projectionists Drippy Eye Projections to curate a reading and light show during the CURRENTS gallery show at Secret Project Robot on Sunday November 12th (the day after @comicartsbrooklyn!) The event will feature comic readings by cartoonists Margot Ferrick, Xia Gordon, Laura Lanes, Jack Reese, Tommi Parrish, and Kyung Me. After the readings Drippy Eye will host a Record Club where they'll select two surprise records and invite the audience to listen and watch an improvised light show performed to the music. During both records we ask for there to be no talking so you can fully dive into the audio/visual experience. Suggest a record for Drippy Eye to play during the light show to [email protected]

I’m incredibly thrilled to finally announce the second annual FORGE. gallery show, CURRENTS! This week marks the 5 year anniversary of FORGE, so it feels very fitting to unveil a show that represents everything I’ve been working towards across that half decade. CURRENTS will once again be a month long art show featuring work by 13 young contemporary artists held at Secret Project Robot in Brooklyn. The goal with CURRENTS this year will once again be to showcase the community of artists and viewers that FORGE. has created online, in an IRL setting. The show is meant to serve as a capsule of who I think are some of the most amazing contemporary artists from various disciplines working today, and will hopefully reinforce the sense of community among all of them. There are going to be a bunch of events happening at the gallery while the show is up, so stay tuned for about those soon.

Call for Submissions

Submissions are open and the theme is set for the 2017 Literary Magazine!

We accept prose, poetry, creative non-fiction, drama and art! You can submit to us through Submittable, and a link to the submissions page is on our website: https://currentsmagazinecnu.wordpress.com/ Or available at: currentsliteraryjournal.submittable.com

Our theme for this year is: New Beginnings! Pieces with a thematic focus on new beginnings, fresh starts, redemption, starting out, rebirth, first steps, etc. will be given special consideration. We do not restrict submissions to theme related pieces, but it is encouraged.

Rolling submissions are now in effect. You can submit to us year-round and decide whether you would like to submit to our print and/or online publication! If you submit to our print publication and are accepted, we will not be making your work public (online or otherwise) until our print release date.

If you are accepted for our online publication only, you are more likely to see your piece featured before the print publication is released. Because we accept submissions year-round, that also means that you can submit over the summer, that includes submitting online and for next year's print edition.

Accepted art will be posted solely online with the exception of the cover photo for our print magazine.

On a final note, the online publication is open to all faculty, staff, students and alumni, but the print publication is only open to current students.
