I appreciate that I can and did run 20+ miles in the woods, that’s a blessing regardless of whatever else is true, so it can’t be a bad day, but my day has been somewhat marred by the fact that during said run, a small insect flew into my eye, which I immediately closed, as you reflexively do when something hits it, and then it was under my eyelid. So I had to crouch by the side of the trail, my phone propped on my knees, and use the selfie camera to locate the insect (WELL under my eyelid by then) and dig it out with a tissue. This while normal families hiked by periodically and I had to keep waiting for them to pass while I gollummed around on the ground (dirt all over my body, and wet due to 90% humidity in the woods and sweating, and just generally grimy and disheveled and uncivilized-looking and giving all appearances of being in mild-to-moderate distress) because I didn’t want to continue flushing my eye/pouring water uselessly all over myself while they were there. And I finally got it out but then later in the run it happened AGAIN but was easier to remove. And now my eye is making so much goo.

#the first bug flew into my eye at exactly the same bend in the trail where I got a calf cramp the one other time I ran that bit #and got three mosquito bites while trying to stretch the calf cramp #cursed location #don't run. bugs will stick to your eyeballs #or you'll fall over for no reason. all kinds of terrible things
