dear diary; mood: apathetic. / journal meme. (accepting.)
♋ - My muse writes about yours. Perhaps the first time they met, or an event that was particularly important to our muses’ relationship.
03/28/16Dark room fully installed. Class III comp. vapors in the Upper East Side, tangible, photographed, contained. Developing. Therapy? ASK PATTY.
03/29/16Asked Patty. Negative. No use feeling broken up about it -- still wrong. Like sleeping with a student. Am not, will not be Greg. Not good for her, not good for business. Aurora is SMART. Aurora is an ADULT. The best we can do is keeping her thinking. GO HOME TUES, WATER PLANTS.
04/05/16Restarted cosmological constants paper to submit for peer review → Abby’s VED rig works!!! Aurora’s infrared allows for almost 97% precise discrepancy readings in unstable systems. Inspired. Publish by fall.
04/20/16OFF TOPIC. Sometimes I wonder if I’m a good person. I know that I’m not, but I think I can be? It seems odd & scornful but true enough. I can’t deal with more friends getting hurt. Not for GB, not for anything. I have Aurora at home so she can sleep. I’ll take her to the doctor in the morning, if she lets me. Abby touched a cat by accident. All the people I love are hurting.
04/20/16Addendum: feels very Greg. Greg did it to be malicious, & I like to think I’m better than that. I am not blameless. But it isn’t passing. It’s technically not illegal but it still feels just as weird, knowing what he did and how it felt to be used. It was Abby first, then it’ll be Aurora, then every one of my friends who has any potential.Should start dating properly again. Maybe someone who doesn’t have a future.
04/20/16Addendum: “Eventually something you love is going to be taken away. And then you will fall to the floor crying. And then, however much later, it is finally happening to you: you’re falling to the floor crying thinking, “I am falling to the floor crying,” but there’s an element of the ridiculous to it — you knew it would happen and, even worse, while you’re on the floor crying you look at the place where the wall meets the floor and you realize you didn’t paint it very well.” (Siken.)
❛ I think you’re just a girl with a very special gift, who only ever wanted people to understand her. So, we’re not all that different at all. ❜
@cursedkindness ♥’d my mystery science theatre me-thousand | starter call!
Ballet lessons had been his ex-wife’s idea. After she had cheated on him, and they had started fighting so much, spending so many sleepless nights discussing divorce and their daughter’s future and the ways their relationship factored into it, they decided it would be best for Anna if she could have something to do -- something to get her out of the house and socializing and away from the toxic environment that had become their home. He probably would never have thought of ballet himself. He had considered orchestra, local theatre, even soccer, but never ballet. The second Anna had walked through the door her face had filled with wonder, tugging his sleeve and asking him questions about the bar on the mirror, about the unitard the teacher was wearing, whether she’d get to wear a tutu like in the movies, and he knew it was the right choice. The divorce has been hard on Anna, she’s ten years old, on the verge of so many major changes, and he has no idea how to help her when she comes home from school, overstimulated and wrought with the anxiety he carries in his own lungs, but somehow ballet helps. So, he takes her to Starbucks every Thursday before class and then sits in, watching her while she’s happiest and feeling at peace for a moment after these painful four months.
This particular Thursday however, he had an appointment with a student during practice and he had needed to drop her off and head right back to work. As if that wasn’t stressful enough, he had then spent two hours talking the student out of dropping his class and trying to explain to the painfully obtuse young man that he simply couldn’t become an engineer of any kind without a rudimentary understanding of fluid mechanics, then of course, he realized he was late to pick up his daughter and told him if he had any further questions he’d have to email him, before bolting out the door. He calls his daughter to tell her he’s on his way, that he’s so sorry, and he practically flies through the door to the ballet studio when he arrives, afraid of the distraught little girl he might find inside. But she’s not distraught, she’s doing simple turns with the ballet instructor, listening to a classical piece he doesn’t recognize, and giggling up a storm. They both turn to him as he struggles for air. As she turns off the music, Daniel steps toward her with anxious energy. “Thank you for watching her. I really -- I just had this meeting -- with this idiot and I...” He shakes his head and offers her an apologetic chuckle before looking at the woman before him more closely. She’s kind of... stupidly beautiful. Of course, he’s noticed before. But from up close, she’s absolutely enchanting. ”Thank you. So much.” A pause. “I’m Daniel Holtzmann, by the way.”

@cursedkindness || ♥ for a lyric starter
reflections -- misterwives
“---- to let the sparks die out, SHATTERING ANYTHING that has reflections of you,” Jillian’s looking around as she’s instructing her new protege (luckily, the girl’s pretty hands on already and doesn’t mind the fact that she’s quiet all the time). Then again, who else would be okay catching a freaking ghost in a house of mirrors.
They had to eliminate all the mirrors to find which duplicate of them wasn’t them.

❝ You sure you want that fool living in your guest room? ❞ AFTER YEARS OF having been married to him you'd think they'd never fall for his tricks again but in this case it was different. Squinting hard at the woman before her something felt a bit off. ❝ Please tell me you're the real Brair Rose & not glamoured to look like her. ❞

siken poetry meme → accepting.
There’s a woman on her floor. That’s not usually where Erinkeeps the women, but she isn’t going to argue when there is a woman on her floor and that’s enough to be a both a worry and a world-splitter.
She wants to say things. Erin isn’t good at saying anythingthat isn’t either already plain, or fantastically unknowable, in a cosmicsense. Aurora is a special kind of cosmic sense. Aurora is a strong sightthat’s igniting to touch; Erin lingers too long on the keys in the ignition andhow they might have stop-started Aurora’s heart, and whether that poor, goldenorgan had done little backflips until it was as black as her eyes make it outto be.
Will she completely incinerate if Erin touches her? Will Erin incinerate without due distance?
She kneels down, in her ugly grey socks and her ugly greyshirt, and she doesn’t care much about it. Erin cares much less about the rainthat lashes at her tall, wide window, or that her mind is forgetting grammar,or that her trigger finger is itching for that extraordinary kind of hurtAurora had undergone when she turned up on Erin’s doorstep.
Aurora can keep turning up, for all Erin cares. She could goanywhere, as long as it’s Erin’s because there is always a Home, with a capital‘H’, right there on the Hardwood floors, where she’s battened down against theHurricanes.
