the word is merely a mumble under her breath,  barely audible but not quite silent either ( she makes sure it’s loud enough for him to hear but not so much as to alarm whatever creature awaits for them downstairs ).

however, as the winchester switches to full hunter mode,  what she identifies is anything but an idiot ─ more so an warrior that she could follow into battle.  the one thing she will certainly NOT do is stay put and wait for certain death.

as if it wasn’t infuriating enough to comply to his requests.

she’s behind him seconds after he moves,  hand steadying the flashlight on shoulder level ( his shoulder level,  and really,  he should be thanking her for that ) in order to illuminate the path ahead,  eyes carefully examining their surroundings.  in all reality,  she should be thanking him ─ this is his area of expertise.  there’s a big chance he’s about to save both of their lives.  still,  she can’t bite her tongue and stay quiet.

❛  what’s  the  point  in  asking  for  a  flashlight  if  you’re  just  gonna  proceed to  walk  away  in  the  dark,  sweetie?  ❜

            merc humor. the words had a SCOFF punching its way out of battered lungs ; shoulder braced easily against the doorframe of the frankly SAD looking motel they’d chosen to rest their bones. smirk set deep in weathered features, he made a POINT to bow his head forward, bowing            as if he was in front of an audience, accepting a round of applause for his efforts.

                “      i know my way around a joke or two. b’sides          i sleep in the back’a that car enough t’not wanna burn it to a crisp, at any rate.       ”

            a pause, reflective in nature. arms crossing over a broad chest as eyebrows rose          that teasing lilt in his tone still present, though dialed back enough to ignore for now.    “      did think about burnin’ the neighbor’s trash heap of a truck after last night’s SYMPHONY of a goddamn racket, though. ya in ?      ”

            SAM IS OLD ENOUGH TO BE fine on his own for a weekend. the thing about these jobs is that sometimes, too many hands are just as dangerous as not enough, and he’s figuring two men should be able to wrap it up. he’s bringing dean. ‘ you got cable, central air, and fifty bucks for food. that should last you three days just fine. just hole up here and keep your head down. got it ? if we ain’t back by SUNDAY, call bobby. keep the doors locked. keep the salt lines down. we’ll call you tomorrow night. ’ he never had to make these lists for his oldest, he thinks, with some ire. then again, his oldest was never a FLIGHT RISK –––––– flagstaff is a couple years off, but trust is hard-earned and easy-broken. ‘ and sam, you better goddamned BE here when I get back. ’ // @cursedmartyr
