»The Beach« is a poetic reflection on life by a young woman. While roaming the beach, she lets her mind run free. We follow her and so, for a few brief moments, we are able to glimpse into her headspace and see the world through her eyes. The beach itself becomes a character of its own as it stands for the one place of longing we all have, the one place we always return to when we need to take a break to be alone with ourselves. A place where past, present and future mingle. This short film has been made for the 2020 edition of the renowned Straight 8 competition in London. Doing a Straight 8 film means that you shoot a whole film on one cartridge of super 8 with only in-camera edits and an original score produced blindly. “STAY TRICKY” Having fun at home by changing the way you think.  Even under the influence of COVID-19, when the economy and the range of activities are shrinking- you can still choose to have fun.  During isolation, there must have been many who thought about their roots. That's when I found my fingerboard.  I built various obstacles using old, treasured items and had fun. Shot by Tomoyuki Kujirai, an audiovisual professional working for NION in Japan. His interest in filmmaking began when he started shooting skateboard movies. He also directs fashion and music videos. “SOLITUDE “ Portrays freedom and the urge to escape reality. By merging urbanity with almost dance-like movements, the camera follows an artist during lockdown, in his attempt to break free. Shot by @paroledure.studios Parole Dure is a female creative duo working in analogue photography and on super8 film. The duo creates soft visuals through concepts & compositions with strong storytelling. Their stories are centered around values they believe in and emotions they are experiencing. 16° CURTA 8 FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINEMA SUPER 8 DE CURITIBA Hello, we are CURTA 8 - Super 8 International Film Festival of Curitiba. We want to invite you to our event that takes place from November 19th to the 22nd. This year, due to Covid-19, all programming will have FREE online broadcast. 52 films will be screened, from twelve countries. The complete schedule can be seen on the websites www.curta8.com.br and www.estudio.live.The exhibitions take place on Thursday and Friday at 7pm and 8pm; on Saturday and Sunday at 4pm, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm (All Brazilian time). “SHOSEPH” "It's a big day for a smitten fool in quarantine. Shot in Tokyo all in-camera, with no editing, on a single roll of Super 8mm film. Awarded Bronze Prize at Straight 8 Cannes 2020. Shot by Andy Nagashima. He is a Japanese-American multidisciplinary creator based in Tokyo by way of Boston and Madrid. By trade he is a film editor and director working across commercial, documentarian, musical, and feature-length projects. He is also a musician, currently creating as one-third of aTTn, an new-wave hip-hop and R&B group based in Tokyo.
