May I ask if you’ve decided who you’ll be supporting in the primary? I haven’t quite decided myself and I’m curious about your thoughts on this.
I like Warren and Harris, but we’re a long ways off and there’s no pressure on anyone to commit. I just want Trump gone.
May I ask why you’re so certain about the dems taking the house? All the numbers I’m seeing still show that we have a ways to go.
Because vulnerable Republicans are dropping like flies while few if any Dems are. Several news outlets, including Fox, have already called it.
Could the firing of Sessions (and subsequent firing of Mueller) actually stymie House investigations, or is this just a temper tantrum?
I have no idea, and honestly anyone who isn’t a long-time DOJ veteran doesn’t know what they’re talking about on this.
Please forgive my ignorance in this matter, but why do you figure McConnell hasn’t ended the legislative filibuster? Is he just worried about what would happen should the GOP return to being a minority party? Or is there some other reason for leaving it intact?
It’s not ignorance, I’m not sure anyone can say for certain. Part of it is that he knows they’ll be the minority again someday, he seems to actually grasp the cyclical nature of politics. I think a big part of it is that the filibuster is the thing that really distinguishes the Senate from the House on legislative matters. The House uses a majority for everything, but the Senate prides itself on being the more deliberative body, because the threat of the filibuster forces them into a broader consensus.
