I think it's very moving that maedhros later on in the first age is unable to be manipulated by curufin anymore
Something about Maedhros not being able to be manipulatived by curufin- looking curufin in the eye and saying fuck that
Something about Curufin/Maedhros is the idea that Curufin is doing this to also gain power/get access to the fact that Maedhros is closer to the crown than Curufin is.
In Beleriand they continue fucking for two reasons- 1. Maedhros is still closer to the throne via fucking Fingon and or Fingolfin and 2. Maedhros is the closest Curufin can get to Feanor after he dies.
