Photos of the Day: LEGO AB’s First Birthday! (feat. LEGO Alter Bridge and LEGO Liz-O!) — July 1st–7th, 2017
In case you missed it elsewhere online, I had a confession to make last weekend:
A year ago this week, Alter Bridge kicked off a new album cycle at The Last Hero Listening Party in Orlando! Via Jaime of Myles Kennedy Junkies, AB received their own hand-painted LEGO likenesses (created by yours truly with @sbpat94) at the party.
The set was “limited-edition,” but it wasn't as “limited” as I'd previously led the internet to believe! The set the band was supposed to be given NEVER made it to Orlando. (It got stuck in Canadian Customs on the way to MKJ HQ!)
Luckily, I still had a full “prototype” set at home that I'd created before the “final” set was made. Jaime and I ended up meeting in-person to hand off the back-up during a stop in her long drive to Florida!
Since The Last Hero Tour began, I've been lucky enough to meet the entire band a couple times, and they've all told me that they — and their kids! — STILL love their LEGOs! Brian Marshall (and his wife, Melanie, via Facebook!) even said that their son, Coop, is allowed to hold “LEGO Daddy!” while he brushes his teeth! How cute is that? I couldn't be happier with how things turned out!
Oh, and if you're wondering, “what happened to the LEGOs that got stuck in Customs?” …you're looking at 'em! [LEGO Liz-O not included!]
