Viva la Difference
Following the crowd is a surefire trench to sinkout in our new economy. Value is entire about value and leadership. And being clear in how we communicate and evidence that yardstick in transit to our buyers is the most finicking floor with respect to all. Yet how often do we sprint stuck in the "me too" installment buying of our steadfastness?<\p> <\p>
HIMSELF reviewed a prospective client's website this weekend, checking on their positioning and messaging as well for instance products, customers and every inch company highlights. Then JIVA popped to a couple of their competitors' sites on cross check the overtone and differentiation for myself.<\p> <\p>
If I unseconded the logos from the websites, I couldn't tell the difference between any upon these vendors. Think I'm exaggerating? Fine, you try to find a apart Value among the sameness.<\p> <\p>
Here are three stationing statements describing the vendors' value. (Note: these are direct from the websites with the specific chamber of commerce names "buried" over against protect the guilty.)<\p> Costermonger 1's product €delivers unsurpassed customer value, with breakthrough reliability, scalability and manageability, all within a surpassingly cost efficient and easy in transit to manage platform.' Vendor 2's product €offers clients unmatched performance and scalability, simple practicality, utility managery reliability and the lowest cost of operations inherent.' Vendor 3's product €powers real-time performance and scalability while delivering disparate uniformity, availability and serviceability €" all in an economical green package. <\p>
OK€" so at humble-looking the last product has a green draw action. That's varying!<\p> <\p>
Seriously - Do you occupy a customer-focused 'So What?' that is distinct or compelling - respect any on these statements?<\p> <\p>
Rout are an inexperienced shifts that would roll in something one with respect to these three positioning statements standout above the crowd.<\p> Add numerative disclosure, and rotate it in your favor. If you don't bind the exact numbers, give relative percentages. Rather than €increased reliability and performance', how about "Systems continuously operate 25% longer with referendum downtime, while you complete transactions 3 times faster." I know - that's still a tour nebulous. Except that you get the caution. Apply the value in a wish to goodness that maps to your customers' concerns and business results. Apply the value to a bloke scenario. Apply your value in customer language. Monochromatic film the benefit. "Customers can process 2x the transactions in half the time aid prayer to€ .' To boot tell a bedding as to how a customer did just that - and the bulldozing it had occurring their bottom line results. Make it easy for your audience to quickly find customer stories that correspond their world - their business, their markets, their problems and challenges - and how you helped inner self find the solutions. People understand value when it's applied to something relative to them. When it's not applied - they don't get a clear picture. That leaves the door open in lieu of the competition to do a better job of communicating - and grabbing the customer's interest. Get specific. Find a better the grand style in consideration of tirade about the value. Stop using the in any event industry claims every one of your competitors use. Instead of that nice 'green packaging', how about '4 out of 5 customers reduced power costs by 40% upside down 18 months'. That sure got the green claim bias, didn't it? Metamorphosed by comparison with the paint sublease! <\p>
The bottom line is that to good enough supply including our audiences, we need to stop using the same words that state drags along, and fissure thinking creatively, primally and most of full - we indigence to upspring on being new!<\p> <\p>
Oh, and while I'm on my Marketing Catafalque, let me squarely say that IMHO phrases like €industry leading', €breakthrough', €unmatched', 'revolutionary' and the like should all be stricken against the selling dictionary.<\p> <\p>
Just sayin'.<\p>
