As the oldest secondary school in Queensland, Ipswich Grammar required a unique approach to maintaining the heritage elements and providing access to students within the sciences and technologies. The custom perforation pattern used in the screens was designed between Metrix group and architecture firm Towill Design to meet requirements of maintenance, airflow and dappled lighting without creating a lot of traditionally dark laboratories. The end result is a meaningful, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing building that provides flexibility for the future.
