Postcards from Camp Wawokiye, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, Long Island, Summer, 1941.
Originally the 1865 farm of Doctor Benjamin Carpenter, the land was divided into parcels and put up for sale. in 1936 Cathleen Pearson Will bought the house and several surrounding parcels to form Camp Wawokiye.where up to 70 children a year could experience the great outdoors, and be big boys or girls.
We at OUAT feel that no self respecting 6 year old would have the necessary type writer skills and that note to mummy and daddy was ghost written by a councilor.
