It's actually great that Will ended up using Robin's advice not to look for signals in Mike but to signal him of his own interest.

Not only is it pretty safe because then Mike will only respond if he's interested and nothing changes if not.

But also, I've said before that Mike has incredibly valid reasons to believe Will does not like him back.

This is good. Will is giving him reasons to hope.

Mike has fulfilled at least one if not sometimes all of Robin's criteria every season for communicating interest. Will never does, Will never has. He has looks, but that's about it. He doesn't initiate. Not touch, not flirting, not even the fight they had about their relationship! Mike did that one at the roller rink too!

Will initiating is really good for this actually. I hadn't expected it, but it is definitely needed to support Mike's arc. He has reason to believe he has a chance now.

cowboy Will Byers x author Mike Wheeler. au where Mike stays on Will’s ranch out in the countryside for the summer to write a story set on a farm. Will put up an add about needing someone to do barn chores for him so Mike calls him and offers to do it for free if he can live on the property. The story follows their slow burn love story and exploring the countryside together. Will teaches Mike how to ride horses (Mikes saddle is too small for him because he’s taller than Will and Will only has one size of saddle lol) and Mike lets Will read what he’s writing. Will is Mikes gay awakening, Will is openly gay. set during the same time period as canon, they are in their mid 20s. Will is still an artist in his free time, and draws Mike at some point in this. INJECT ITTT

what do we think?? i might try to write this if nobody else does lol but i’m not much of a writer. if anything it might end up being a 2k word one shot if i’m lucky and be written horribly… i may bring in back up if i ever do this lol

I need Byler to have a dance scene.

It doesn't matter if it's a regular one or at an event.

For example, imagine it's the Snow Ball again, or a celebration because Hawkins is saved, or whatever, and it's evening, Byler is already canon, so Mike leads Will away from the crowd so no one sees them but they still hear the music, and they start a calm dance, finally feeling like everything is as it should be from the start.

The scene would be a great contrast to the Milkvan scene at the Snow Ball in S2. Mike was so distraught when that girl asked Will to dance; you can see it on his face.

Mike quickly realized his mistake in letting Will dance, it was so sad😔 Mike and Will need to have a scene like that as compensation for that moment, but this time, it will be happy and full of love, there has to be a kiss too, of course, full of love, longing, and tenderness. We need at least some cheesy love scenes with Byler for pity's sake. I need compensation for watching Milkvan for two seasons😤
