Anon asked: “IF YOU DO A RAINY NIGHT WITH SICHENG I WILL ROAST MYSELF ALIVE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY THANK UOU UGH”
Author’s note: I got you lovelies! Sicheng you want Sicheng you get. I love this cutie so much he’s the cutest. Besides I can sort of relate to this because I don’t speak Chinese and none of the NCT members speak my first language so I’m pretty excited to write this. Also I’m not sure this is the right Chinese phrase that I used. I looked it up on google and since I don’t trust google translate I got to this website which explained different Chinese phrases that people use when they say they love someone or that they like someone, so I hope it’s at least somewhat accurate. I hope you’ll like it! Gif isn’t mine. x
Being able to speak multiple languages was something you’ve always wanted to be able to do, but it was pretty difficult. It’s also difficult to switch between languages, so you often forget certain words. Which often makes for pretty funny situations. Luckily you’re not the only one. Sicheng pretty much has the same. His first language is Chinese but with his members and with you he speaks Korean. You know just how difficult it is to switch between languages which is why Sicheng is glad he has you. Of course lots of the NCT members are foreigners as well and learned Korean later on in life but since he needs it to communicate with other people, which sometimes can be quite stressful.
You used to be really insecure when speaking Korean because you hadn’t been studying it for that long but when you realized you needed it to get around you slowly started to feel more confident. When you met Sicheng you instantly connected with him and realized that you weren’t the only one dealing with the same problems. Sicheng and you often helped each other with the language and being together really boosted both of your confidence. When Sicheng couldn’t come up with a word you helped him and the other way around. What sucked was that neither your first language or his was easy to learn, so you just stuck to speaking Korean to each other.
Months went by and it didn’t take long before you got together in a more romantic way. One night Sicheng came back from his schedule and let himself fall down on the couch. Right that moment rain started pouring down from the sky hitting the window. It wasn’t totally unexpected since the sky seemed very dark already. Sicheng let out a chuckle as he stares out of the window.
“Seems like I got back just in time.”
You flash a bright smile at him as you pull him closer, taking his hand in yours. Sicheng brushes his nose against your cheek as he presses a kiss against it.
“At least I’m back now.”
“Thankfully. How was it today? Did you practice a lot?”
“Yeah, we practiced our choreography for about 4 hours.”
Your eyes widen in shock as you turn to look at him. Sicheng chuckles at your reaction and shakes his head softly. “We’re pretty much used to it so it’s not really a big deal. At least I’m back with you now and we can spend the night together.”
You press a kiss against his lips before standing up and making your way to the kitchen, turning on the kettle to boil the water for some cups of tea. Sicheng watches you from where he’s sitting on the couch and grabs a blanket for when you get back. It doesn’t take too long for the water to boil and you soon pour the water in the cups and add the teabags. You take the cups back to where you and Sicheng are sitting and place them down on the table in front of it.
“Thank you”
You smile at him as he grabs your hand and pulls you down so you’re sitting next to him. You chuckle as he wraps the blanket around you so both of you are covered and snuggled up together. You gently take the cup of tea you just made and slowly sip it. Since the tea is still a bit hot and you obviously don’t want to burn your tongue. After a couple of sips you put the cup back on the table and snuggle back again Sicheng. His arm wrapped around your back as he’s sitting next to you. You’ve been preparing something for the past few weeks and just the thought of it makes you nervous. Once Sicheng rests his head on your shoulder and closes his eyes you finally take your phone out to look at the note you’ve saved on it.
It might seem cheesy but you’ve been wanting to say ‘I love you’ to your boyfriend for a long time now, and you want it to be meaningful. So what better way then to say it in his first language, Chinese? That sounds easier than it seems because Chinese is a pretty damn hard language to learn. Especially the pronunciation is difficult so that’s why your heart is beating so fast. You don’t want to mess it up, but then again you know that Sicheng will really appreciate it no matter what. Even if you mess it up. So you decide to just go for it and gather your courage to tell him. You put your phone down and turn so you’re facing him. Sicheng opens his eyes as he looks up at you, waiting for you to say something. What you say next takes him by surprise.
“ 我喜欢你” (wǒ xǐ huān nǐ)
It doesn’t register at first but when he realizes that it isn’t Korean his eyes widen and his heart starts to beat faster. The familiar words coming out of your mouth really made him feel something. A few seconds later he realizes that it was his first language that you said it in, not your own. You just said ‘I love you’ to him in Chinese. The brightest smile you had ever seen spread across his face as he let out a cute laugh before embracing you tightly, almost squeezing the air out of you. You’re taking by surprise and can’t help but feel your heart flutter. You’re not sure what kind of reaction you were expecting but you didn’t expect him to be so happy about it.
Then again his reaction was so much more than what you could have asked for. Sicheng slowly pulls back as he preps your cheek with kisses, making you chuckle loudly.
“You’re to sweet. I love you too Y/N.”
You giggle before brushing your thump over his cheek and press a soft kiss against his lips.
