Sanguinius - Cereus - the legend of Hi'iaka. One of the famous legends tells of her journey to find the chieftain Lohiau, with whom Pele fell in love. Pele, consumed by jealousy, tasked Hi'iaka with descending into the underworld, overcoming many dangers, and bringing Lohiau to the Kilauea volcano. Along the way, the heroine encountered monsters and battled the spirits of death. In it, the cereus represents Hi'iaka's determination and her longing for her lover, and also symbolizes the ephemeral nature of love. 🌵
