Renaine won’t likely make its Kickstarter goal, despite the popularity of its demo on Newgrounds (remember those … what did they call them … Flash games?). It’s just another platformer as far as gameplay is concerned.
What I want to talk about is its unique art direction. No wonder, since it comes from Carrion a.k.a. @cutlaska, a wondrous and mysterious being, probably from another dimension if I’d judge by his art. He brings on a fresh, patterned art style that's like if you’d throw a ZX Spectrum and FEZ down a wormhole, and after space-time came to equilibrium, Renaine would come out the other end.
What’s really cool about this campaign is that we also get to see behind the scenes and marvel at Carrion’s pens which have that @dom2d appeal to them.
As much as I’m losing my enthusiasm for writing about one platformer after another, I’m always happy to highlight the artists behind these projects.
Make sure to follow Carrion on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, DeviantArt and anywhere else this creature glimpses into existence.
