got a couple requests to post the sabriel star scene from the other day as it’s own post so here it is!
“You okay?” Gabriel asked an hour later, appearing in the office waiting room as Sam walked out, scaring some poor other hunter shitless, probably.
“Yeah,” Sam mumbled, “Can we just…get out of here? Please?”
“Sure,” Gabriel nodded, giving Dean a sarcastic-polite smile before linking his arm with Sam’s, “Where to?”
“Home,” Sam sighed, “No where extravagant, Gabe, I’m exhausted.”
“As you wish, my dear hunter,” Gabriel said and they appeared in Sam’s bedroom at the bunker, “Sorry for going straight here, but there’s a little powwow going on in the living room, figured you just wanted some peace and quiet.”
“Thanks,” Sam smiled slightly before flopping back on his bed with a sigh, “I get that this was kind of my idea, but it doesn’t make it any less exhausting.”
“I figured,” Gabriel said, moving to lean on the wall and looking at him.
Sam patted the spot beside him without looking up and Gabriel plopped down beside him, staring up at the ceiling.
“You feeling okay?” Gabriel asked.
Sam just sighed, “It just brings up a lot of shitty memories, y’know?”
“Trust me, I know,” Gabriel said, linking his hand with his and stroking it with his thumb, “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
“I just want to relax and be here with you,” Sam mumbled, “Maybe some other time, yeah?”
Gabriel nodded before smirking slightly. He raised his hand and the ceiling was replaced with a night sky full of glistening stars, “Since you wouldn’t let me take you somewhere extravagant, I’ll bring it to you.”
Sam stared up at the stars, a smile on his face. He moved slightly, putting his head on Gabriel’s shoulder as they stared up at the stars, holding hands.
“I don’t like being away from our home after dark,” Michael said stubbornly, sitting in the passenger seat, “Your holiday is tomorrow, not tonight.”
“It’s…” Adam trailed off, laughing, “It’s not my holiday, Mike. And it’s Christmas Eve, we’ll spend tomorrow together.”
“Your family doesn’t trust me,” Michael commented, “Or like me for that matter. Your grandfather is very suspicious of me and thinks I had something to do with your ‘kidnapping’,” he grumbled, resting his head on the window, “I never wished for any of this to happen to you, Adam, and for them to think that I did-”
“Whoa,” Adam said, glancing in the mirror before signaling, pulling off to the side of the road and putting the car in park. He turned to Michael, “Mike, I know you never wanted anything to happen to me.”
Michael stared at him.
“I wouldn’t be with you if you did,” Adam took his hand, “I wouldn’t want to wake up every single day next to you if you did.”
Michael swallowed, looking down at their linked hands for a moment, like he was still fascinated by it after being together for months. He quickly checked his coat pockets with his free hand, pulling out a small box, “I know this isn’t technically for today according to your traditions but it’s important to me that you have it now. It feels right.”
Adam smiled weakly, “I left yours at home, Mike.”
“I want you to have this now,” Michael told him, pulling his hand away, “It’s very important to me that you have this. It could help you in a situation where I would not be there o-or if you couldn’t find me.”
Adam blinked in shock at the serious tone of his voice, “Nothing is gonna happen, Mike.”
Michael just stared at him for a moment before opening the box.
Adam tilted his head, staring at the small vial attached to a chain, “A glowstick?”
Michael rolled his eyes, an oddly human thing to do, before handing it to him, putting it in his palm.
Adam blinked in shock at the familiar, warm feeling, “Oh...Michael, is this…?” he trailed off.
“A vial of my Grace, yes,” Michael explained, “If I were to ever disappear, you could use this to track me. There’s a lot of other...things we should discuss about it, but we are going to be late,” he quickly took the necklace from Adam’s hand, helping him put it on, “It will always keep me close to your heart.”
Adam grabbed the front of his shirt, pulling him into a kiss.
Michael blinked in surprise before melting into the kiss. He fumbled slightly for Adam’s seatbelt, only to be stopped by his hand on his.
“We can’t be late,” Adam told him quietly, “We have all the time in the world for that later.”
Michael let out a sigh before nodding in agreement, sitting back in his seat. He quickly grabbed Adam’s hand, not saying a word as they sat in comfortable silence.
...........…
“Why are we only here just to leave again?” Michael huffed, “It is a waste of time. I could easily teleport us.”
“We’re all going to the tree ceremony together,” Adam laughed quietly, “And then coming back here for cookies and we’re gonna watch a Charlie Brown Christmas…”
Michael just continued to be huffy about it, crossing his arms, “It is a waste of time.”
“Like I said, Mike, all the time in the world,” Adam rubbed his arm before getting out of the car.
Michael sighed before getting out of the car as well, following after Adam quickly. He smiled a little when Adam took his hand and walked up on the porch of the older looking big house with him.
Michael went to knock on the door but Adam simply opened it, walking inside and pulling Michael along with him.
“Nan?” Adam called, “We’re here!”
“Right on time,” Adam’s grandmother, Katherine, laughed as she walked out, “At least one of my grandkids can manage to show up on time.”
Michael watched as she pulled Adam into a tight hug and blinked in shock when she pulled him into one right after.
“It’s good to see you two,” Katherine said, “C’mon in, you’re going to catch a cold out there,” she said quickly, closing the door behind them, “Go on in the living room, we’re still waiting on Keith and the kids.”
“C’mon, Mike,” Adam said softly, pulling him into the living room and smiling, “Oh, Mr. They-Don’t-Like-Me.”
Michael huffed, crossing his arms and sitting beside him on the couch. He’d never had time to dwell on human comforts until he met Adam. But sitting in a warm house in front of a fireplace in a very cozy living room with Adam sitting so close their legs touched? That was what comfort felt like to Michael.
“They know we are together,” Michael said softly.
“I think they always kind of assumed,” Adam laughed quietly, “Pretty sure it was just you and me that weren’t aware we were dating before we were, Mike,” he said, resting his head on Michael’s shoulder.
“I have learned that it isn’t normal for friends to sleep together every night,” Michael said softly.
“Felt right though,” Adam whispered.
“Yes,” Michael agreed softly, linking their hands again, “It did.”
The archangel was a little frustrated when Adam moved over as soon as his grandfather came into the room, but didn’t comment on it. Humans were odd...they loved to show affection -in Adam’s case, at least- but not in front of people they knew...especially elder relatives.
“Good to see at least someone made it on time,” James grunted, sitting back down, “I swear, ever since…” he trailed off, “Well, no one’s been showin’ up to anything ‘til now. Biggest turnout we’ve had was on Thanksgiving and it’s ‘cause you came back.”
Adam smiled softly, “You’re gonna make people think I’m your favorite, granddad.”
“Well, you showed up on time!” James gestured around wildly, “Already doin’ better than your uncle.”
Adam just smiled softly, going silent.
“So, Mike, what do you do for a living?” James asked, causing Adam to choke on the air he was breathing.
Michael stared at him, confusion written all over his face.
“Mike is between jobs,” Adam said quickly, rubbing Michael’s arm.
“Did you…” James trailed off, clearing his throat, “Did you escape with Adam?”
“Granddad-” Adam started.
“Yes,” Michael nodded, “We escaped together.”
“Well,” James told him, “Thank you, Michael...you got Adam back to us.”
Michael stared at him for a moment before clearing his throat, “Excuse me,” he said, getting up and walking out of the room as quickly as possible.
He knew Adam would follow him, a part of him hoped he wouldn’t, but he knew him too well at this point.
Michael shoved his hands in his pockets, staring off the porch. Adam’s grandparents didn’t even live that far and they lived on a small farm.
It was so peaceful.
“Hey, you okay?” Adam asked quickly, struggling to get his coat on as he walked out.
“Yes, I…” Michael trailed off and sighed, looking up at the stars.
“Words, Mike,” Adam encouraged softly.
Michael swallowed, “I was uncomfortable when your grandfather insinuated that I got you back to them when I was the reason you were gone in the first place.”
“God was the reason I was gone, not you,” Adam sighed, grabbing his hand, “You just did what your father said. I don’t blame you, I blame him.”
Michael stared down at him with a sigh, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“You don’t believe me,” Adam said softly.
“I don’t,” Michael shook his head, “I blame myself. I try to see things your way but I do not.”
“I love you, Michael...nothing about what happened is going to change that,” Adam said, holding on his arm and looking out at the farm as well, “Let’s go inside, it’s cold.”
Michael just nodded, putting his arm around Adam as they walked back inside.
...........…
“Adam!” Joy yelled happily as Adam walked in hand-in-hand with Michael to Windom’s little town square. They ran up, Martin following close behind with identical grins on their faces.
“Watch it, bro, Erick is around and wants a story,” Martin added before they could even say hello.
“Erick?” Michael asked seriously.
“He’s a reporter for our town’s paper,” Adam explained, rolling his eyes, “We went to high school with him.”
“He’s a little asshole is what he is,” Ryka said, walking up with her hands stuffed in her pockets and Dawson following close behind, “He just made a professional career after being a gossip in high school,” she scoffed.
“Is he a threat?” Michael asked seriously.
Adam elbowed him, “He’s just a jerk, Mike, don’t get all...you,” he said quietly, but there was a fond smile on his face.
“I haven’t seen this thing light up in ten years,” Dawson commented, looking up at the huge, unlit tree, “Pretty sure the last time I saw it was when all of us were together.”
Adam’s lips twitched, like he wanted to smile but he didn’t. He stared at Dawson for another moment before tearing his eyes away, looking up at the tree, “I swear, they find a bigger one every year,” he said, changing the subject.
Michael watched Adam, not saying anything.
“Joy said that you were trying to find Jared,” Dawson said suddenly, looking at Michael, “Any luck?”
“No,” Michael said simply, not taking his eyes away from Adam despite the feeling of guilt in his chest for not telling Adam and his friends about the fate of their friend.
“Good detective you got there,” Dawson snorted, “Don’t worry, me and Ryka are already looking into it.”
Michael went to say something, but was cut off by someone calling out “Adam Milligan!”
“Tried to warn you,” Martin chuckled, stepping aside as who only Michael could assume was Erick ran over.
“I’ve been trying to get ahold of you,” Erick explained, “I talked to your grandparents, have they not been forwarding my messages?”
Adam shrugged, “Sorry, must have missed the memo,” he said, smiling weakly, holding onto Michael’s arm.
“And who is this?” Erick asked.
“Off the record, this is Michael,” Adam smiled, though there was a little bit of sarcasm in his tone.
“Could we possibly talk on the record?” Erick asked, “It’s a big story for our little town, y’know…would be nice to get the big scoop.”
“There is no scoop, I’m back now,” Adam said, shrugging, “There’s no story to tell.”
“You look the same,” Erick commented.
“Good genes,” Adam said simply, gripping Michael’s arm a little tighter.
Michael could sense the anxiety starting to radiate off of his former vessel, he knew it was either the questions or the amount of people, he wasn’t sure which was making it worse.
He went to say something, but Adam’s grandmother did before he could.
“I thought we told you to beat it,” Katherine snapped, practically shoving Adam and Michael behind her shorter figure, but Michael swore she had enough fury to even scare him.
Erick put his hands up in surrender, “I was just seeing if he had gotten my message, Kat, calm down,” he said, taking a step back.
Katherine just continued to glare until Erick just sighed, nodding, and walking away.
“I admire your grandmother’s fury,” Michael said quietly to Adam, causing him to laugh and bury his face in his shoulder.
...........…
“I will say,” Michael said softly, looking up at the now-lit tree before looking around at the crowd, “Your tiny town is nice, for a bunch of humans. It is nice they found something to do with their brief existence.”
Adam rolled his eyes, but smiled fondly, holding Michael’s gloved hand with his own as they walked back to their truck.
“I’ve always enjoyed observing human holidays,” Michael explained, “But I never actually took part in celebration before.”
Adam smiled slightly, “Not even Michaelmas?”
Michael smiled softly, “While I do appreciate your people celebrating me...no.”
“Well, next year we’re just gonna have to celebrate our birthdays together,” Adam said, linking their arms and pulling him close.
“I do not have a birthday,” Michael huffed.
“We’ll just have to go to the next closest thing then,” Adam smiled, “Just so happens to be my birthday as well.”
Michael scoffed, “That is not a coincidence, you were meant to be my vessel. Originally that was intended to be your brother’s birthday, but that date was pushed up in hopes of starting the apocalypse sooner.”
Adam rolled his eyes, “Well, tough luck, buddy, I’m your boyfriend now.”
“That is not tough luck,” Michael said, leaning down and pressing his lips against his.
...........…
“Eat your food, Mike,” Adam whispered encouragingly as they sat at the dinner table.
“I enjoy pizza,” Michael whispered back, looking down at the plate.
“I know, but you can try new things too,” Adam bumped his shoulder, “Just try it and if you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it.”
“Can we get pizza after?” Michael huffed.
Adam just pressed a soft kiss to his jaw line, patting his leg as he continued eating.
“So, Michael,” Keith said suddenly, “What do you do for a living? I feel like you and Addy are so close and we know nothing about you.”
“I recently acquired a job at the shipping yard,” Michael said before taking a bite of the ham and making a face, but swallowed it.
“How’d you meet Adam?” Keith asked.
“Keith,” Katherine snapped at him, “Eat your food.”
Keith rolled his eyes, “Oh, I’m just grilling the new guy, ma. I’m an uncle, it’s my job to make sure little Addy is being safe.”
Adam narrowed his eyes, “Thanks, Uncle Keith,” he said sarcastically.
...........…
“We all have ornaments with our names on them,” Adam explained, “The tree is already decorated, but we always hang our family ornaments on Christmas Eve,” he told Michael, “Gran makes them, her dad used to make them before he died,” he said before going to hang a few on the tree that Michael recognized as some earlier people in the Milligan line.
“We also celebrate the Winter Solstice,” Katherine added, smiling at Michael.
Michael nodded, staring at her, “Happy Yule, ma’am,” he said quietly, not loud enough for Adam to hear.
Katherine smiled, “You’re pretty smart, Mike,” she said before handing an ornament with his name on it.
Michael stared down at it, “It is not traditional for a new boyfriend to be welcomed into a family this fast.”
“Do we seem like a normal family, Mike?” Katherine raised an eyebrow.
“No, ma’am, you don’t,” Michael explained, “The Milligan line has many witches and I believe that you are one of them.”
“And I believe that you’re the Michael and not just Michael,” Katherine smiled at him before handing him a clear looking ornament, “This is for the tree in your new home.”
“A new home blessing,” Michael said quietly, admiring it and then his vessel’s cheeks tinged slightly, “I’ve always found witch traditions sort of fascinating.”
“Do you sense it in him?” Katherine asked.
Michael went silent.
“It’s late for him, I know, but...after everything he’s been through…” she trailed off, “He didn’t have his mother to guide him and James and I think that the time away might have...stunted his growth, if you know what I mean.”
Michael pursed his lips, “The Milligan line has a very high number of witches in your blood...I sense that in Adam, but it’s not as strong as with you or your husband. I do not know if he will ever grow into his powers after the time we spent in Hell. He did not age.”
Katherine nodded, smiling sadly, “Well...if you do sense anything, you know where to find us. We’ll take him in as soon as it happens, it’s what we do.”
“Did gran give you your ornament?” Adam asked, walking over quickly and looking at it, “I told her the colors you like.”
“It is nice,” Michael told him, slipping the other one into his pocket for when they got home. He smiled at Adam, taking his focus back to him, “Show me where you’d like me to hang it?”
Adam nodded, grabbing his free hand and leading him over to the large tree where his ornament was hanging along with his mother’s. He quickly adjusted it a little more, making sure her name was on the outside before smiling at Michael, “You can hang it beside ours.”
Michael hung his ornament before his lips twitched, looking at the tree names together.
...........…
“Maybe you’re vegetarian,” Adam considered on the way back to their house, driving their truck.
“Maybe,” Michael said, staring out the window while holding his hand, “I do not appreciate eating things that were once alive.”
“We’ll start getting pizza with just cheese on it, then,” Adam smiled at him as he pulled in their driveway and put the truck in park before hopping out and running to the front door quickly, “I have to give you your present now, since you gave me mine,” he said, fumbling to unlock the door.
Michael smiled softly, leaning on the truck for a moment and watching Adam run inside, picking up Aira as he did and holding her close. He shut the door before hurrying after him, watching as his partner ran over to the tree, grabbing a small box.
Michael closed the door and locked it behind them before walking over to the tree as well. He discreetly hung the ornament from Adam’s grandmother before turning to smile at Adam.
Adam handed it to the archangel, an excited look on his face, “Open it!”
Michael opened it, blushing slightly at Adam’s gaze on him.
“I-I know we’re not ready to get married or anything, but...I still wanted to give you something to remind you of me while you’re working. I-I’m so proud of you for getting that job, Mike.”
Michael opened the box, smiling down at the ring, “I love it, Adam,” he told him, pressing his lips against his, “I love you.”
“I think Dean’s mad,” Sam said, tiredness apparent in his voice. It was good to do a normal hunt, it felt good, but not sleeping for three days straight was starting to catch up with the younger Winchester.
“Dean’s always mad, I swear he has a bigger stick up his ass lately than my big bro back in the day,” Gabriel scoffed, helping him up and nodding to Adam as he did, the youngest already busy cleaning up the medical supplies and promptly ignoring them.
“Still,” Sam sighed, “He’s right. We shouldn’t have been fooling around on a hunt, someone could have gotten hurt,” he yawned.
“He’s gonna need to rest his leg for a few days with that cut,” Adam piped up, brushing passed them to leave the infirmary as he did, “I’m telling you because you’ll actually make him do it,” he called as he walked away.
“You heard the man,” Gabriel said simply, easily picking Sam up.
“Gabe, jesus-“ Sam yelped, “You’re gonna hurt yourself.”
“Archangel, remember?” Gabriel scoffed, “The vessel may be short, Winchester, but I got the strength of fifty normal humans and then some,” he laughed as he walked in the direction of Sam’s room. It was a little awkward with how long Sam’s limbs were but he didn’t mind having them wrapped around him.
“It’s a cut, I’ve had worse,” Sam mumbled.
“Yeah, doesn’t matter, kiddo,” Gabriel said, kicking open the bedroom door, “You got someone with actual medical knowledge around as well as some pretty powerful beings who just want you to get some rest. I’d probably still have carried you even if you weren’t hurt. You’re dead on your feet.”
“I’ve stayed up for longer too,” Sam rolled his eyes as Gabriel helped him into bed.
“Again, doesn’t matter,” Gabriel rolled his eyes. He leaned down and pressed his lips against Sam’s gently before pulling away, “Night, Sammich. Actually get some sleep, yeah?”
“Hey,” Sam grabbed his hand, “Would you...maybe want to stay?” he tried, “It’s okay if you don’t want to, I just...today was fun. I like being close to you.”
Gabriel smiled slightly, “I like being close to you too,” he said before nodding. He cleared his throat as he took his jacket off, tossing it across the room in a spare chair.
He moved so he was lying next to Sam and they were both looking at each other. Gabriel didn’t know what compelled him to do it, he wasn’t normally a soft type of guy, but he reached up and brushed some of Sam’s hair from his face.
“Get some rest,” Gabriel told him gently, “I’ll be here to chase away any nightmares, trust me.”
Sam gave him a lopsided smile, his eyes dropping closed.
“That’s just about everything,” Gabriel said, putting his hands on his hips as he looked out at the beach that had never been discovered by anyone before. He’d set up a few umbrellas as well as a picnic table with Sam earlier in the day and now they were just waiting on the others to arrive.
“It looks great, Gabe,” Sam smiled weakly before taking a deep breath, “I want everything to be perfect for Jack today, y’know?”
“No pressure, right?” Gabriel winked at him.
“You know what I mean,” Sam sighed, “It’s just...things have been weird, with everything happening. I want to make things up to Jack.”
“That’s not your job, Samoose,” Gabriel gave him a sympathetic smile, “You’re not the one who has the most making up to do.”
“He’s trying,” Sam explained, “That’s part of today, he’s going to try, he’s not going to drink, and he’s going to have a good time. We’re all going to have a good time.”
“Whatever you say,” Gabriel said, grabbing his hand and kissing it, “Let’s just...not get our hopes too high, okay? I know this is what you want, but all of us in one place…” he trailed off, “Hasn’t worked out the best in the past.”
“Never hurts to try,” Sam shrugged.
Gabriel just continued to smile sympathetically at him until the familiar sound of wings came through the air.
“Sam! Uncle Gabriel! Hello!” Jack said cheerfully.
When Sam looked up, Jack was standing with Michael, Adam, and Raphael, wearing a pair of plastic sunglasses that had neon green rims.
“We brought pie,” Raphael offered after a beat of silence, awkwardly holding out the circular pan, “Adam made it from items he grew in his garden. Why are you all so irritating? I like him just fine.”
Sam gave them a tight smile, taking the pan, “Thanks, guys,” he turned his attention to Jack, ignoring the comment, “How’s it going, Jack?”
“Good,” Jack grinned, “I am starting school this Fall, we all decided. I am very excited.”
“That’s...that’s great,” Sam smiled at him, “As long as everything goes according to plan…”
“Jack wants to go to school, so he’s going,” Adam said simply, “Regardless of what happens.”
Sam took a deep breath and gave him a tight smile, “Of course, whatever Jack wants.”
“Where are the others?” Adam changed the subject.
“You guys are the first ones here,” Sam shrugged, “Gabe and I came here to set up early since the place was essentially never discovered by humanity. We cleaned it up a bit.”
“Thanks for that,” Adam said simply, putting down the food as well as a bag, “Jack, make sure you put on sunscreen again soon, please.”
Jack nodded and sat down in the sand, grabbing Michael’s arm and pulling him down with him, “I’m going to teach Uncle Michael how to build a sandcastle.”
“Sounds great, bud,” Adam said simply, sitting down at the picnic table beside Raphael.
“Go talk to him,” Gabriel told Sam quietly, “Trust me, Raph isn’t much of a conversation starter, they’re just gonna sit there in silence.”
“There’s not much to talk about,” Sam swallowed.
“Never hurts to try,” Gabriel gave him a weak smirk, repeating his earlier words.
Sam just sighed again, smiling slightly at him before walking over.
Jack glanced up as Sam walked over to Adam and bumped Michael slightly.
Michael glanced up as well and cleared his throat, “Raphael, would you like to join us?”
The archangel squinted in confusion, “Why?”
“Because we need to spend time with Jack,” Michael said simply, “And I am asking you to.”
Raphael simply sighed and they walked over, sitting down in the sand and wrinkling their nose as they did, “I do not enjoy this,” they said immediately.
Sam sat down across from Adam, “Hey,” he said awkwardly, “How have...things been? We haven’t seen you since we came over to check out the house.”
“Fine,” Adam said, “I have a job at an antique shop in town. Jack wants to sell some of the stuff we grow in our garden, so Michael is helping him build a little stand.”
Sam nodded slowly, “Uh...so, there’s a thing going around...that you and Michael are expecting a kid?”
“Yes,” Adam deadpanned, “Is that going to be a problem?”
“What? No,” Sam said quickly, “I mean, we’d like to know if we’re gonna be uncles, y’know? We’re happy for you.”
“I’m sure you are,” Adam sighed, looking down at his phone and playing with it absentmindedly, despite there definitely not being any signal on the beach they were on.
“We’ll keep you and your kid safe from all of this,” Sam told him firmly.
“I don’t need you to,” Adam told him, “I genuinely don’t. I can take care of myself and even if I couldn’t, Michael is the first ever archangel. He’s powerful. I don’t need you to protect my child when we’re both very capable. I definitely don’t need Dean around my kid either.”
“Dean isn’t a bad guy, Adam,” Sam sighed, “We both made mistakes with Jack, we’re dealing with that and trying to make up for it.”
“You went along with it because he’s your big brother and he’s all you’ve ever known as a caretaker,” Adam snapped, “It’s definitely not healthy, but I understand you. Dean has treated Jack like shit since the beginning.”
“Don’t...do that. Don’t psychoanalyze us like you’re…” Sam trailed off, “Act human, dude. You’re not a robot.”
“I’m not though,” Adam sighed, “Sam...I spent over a thousand years with Michael and Lucifer. Things happen. I’m not human anymore. I don’t...one hundred percent know what I am, but it’s not human. I’m not saying I’m above you, I’m just saying...things get put into perspective when you have that long to think. The idea of petty drama and dealing with human bullshit is just nothing to me anymore.”
Sam watched him curiously, not sure what to say.
“I spent over a thousand years in Hell, Sam,” Adam sighed, “I don’t know what you want from me. I can’t bring myself to care about things that don’t matter to me anymore. Jack is my nephew, he was in a bad situation because of Dean, and now he’s not. Jack doesn’t have to forgive you guys, just like I don’t have to forgive any of you for letting me rot in Hell for all that time,” he stood up, “I came here today to spend time with my nephew, not debate my emotions with you.”
What emotions? Sam wanted to say, but stopped himself.
Dean probably wouldn’t have been so kind.
“I guess you were right though...we wanted to take Jack away from you, we just didn’t know it at the time,” Adam said simply before walking over and sitting down with the archangels and Jack in the sand.
“I’m guessing that didn’t go well?” Gabriel asked, walking over and sitting down beside him.
“Does it ever with him?” Sam mumbled.
“No, but if your boyfriend was an extreme optimist, would you tell him that?” Gabriel asked.
Before Sam could say anything else, the others appeared.
“This is awesome,” Charlie grinned, “We’re, like, the first people ever to be here, right?”
“That’s true,” Gabriel said, “Completely undiscovered by humanity; cool, right?”
“Definitely,” Kevin smiled.
“Sixty five percent of earth is still undiscovered by humanity, it’s not surprising,” Samandriel deadpanned.
Kevin just rolled his eyes, “C’mon, man, let’s get in the water.”
“Why?” Samandriel looked confused as he was drug over to the shoreline.
“Socially inept angels plus one beach day,” Dean walked over to Sam and Gabriel, “Entertaining, at least,” he said, looking confused when he saw the two archangels attempting to build a sandcastle with Jack and Adam’s help. He gestured to them, making Sam laugh.
“So,” Gabriel grinned as Benny, Balthazar, and Castiel all sat down with them, “Are we going to start a betting pool on how long it’ll take Heaven’s Most Adorable Angel and Heaven’s Most Adorable Prophet to get together?”
“Well, unless they’re like Charlie and refuse to make a move, probably soon- OW!” Dean groaned when Charlie threw a frisbee at the back of his head, “Hey!”
“Zip it,” Charlie told him immediately, “And come play frisbee with us.”
“I want to play!” Jack got up quickly.
Michael and Raphael sighed in relief, getting up from the sand almost in-sync and dusting themselves off, making Adam laugh.
Dean hesitated when Jack ran over and Sam shoved him lightly.
“Go,” the younger Winchester mumbled, giving him a look.
Dean sighed and grabbed the frisbee from where it landed beside him, rubbing the back of his head, “Nice aim,” he said, going to throw it back just as hard, but Charlie caught it with a smirk.
“Nice try,” Charlie said, tossing the frisbee gently to Jack, who fumbled to catch it.
…
“I don’t see the point,” Samandriel mumbled, “I thought we were busy fighting Father.”
“We are,” Kevin explained, “But...it’s important for us to relax too, especially Jack, he’s just a kid.”
Samandriel nodded slowly, looking down at his vessel’s feet in the water, tilting his head, “I find this very enjoyable, I’m surprised.”
“Yeah, free will does that to you,” Kevin laughed, reaching down and picking up a seashell, “Here...a souvenir for your first beach day.”
Samandriel took the shell, looking down at it in the palm of his hand, a small smile on his face.
…
“Yeah, I give it a week,” Gabriel smirked, looking over at Kevin and Samandriel, “Charlie, you need to catch up- OW!” he groaned when she threw the frisbee again.
“That didn’t even hurt you, don’t be a baby,” Balthazar snorted as Gabriel threw the frisbee back to the group.
“So,” Gabriel said, looking at Cas and Balthazar, “How’s it going with you two lovebirds?”
Cas glared at him, “I have explained this many times, we are not romantically involved. Platonic love is extremely valid.”
“You’ve been hanging around Adam too much,” Gabriel rolled his eyes.
Cas narrowed his eyes at him.
“Dude, you need to put on sunscreen,” Sam called to Dean.
Dean rolled his eyes, “I’ll be fine.”
Sam scoffed, “Whatever, your funeral, man.”
…
“Would you like to go for a walk?” Jack asked Dean once he tossed the frisbee to Dorothy.
Dean stared at him, “You sure that’s a good idea, kid?”
“I don’t need permission to go for a walk with a member of my family,” Jack said bluntly, “Or anything for that matter. I just need to let them know that we’re going, if you want to go.”
Dean nodded slowly, not sure what to say.
Jack walked over to where Adam and Michael were with Raphael and talked to them briefly. He turned back around and quickly walked over to Dean, “C’mon, I want to explore this place.”
Dean followed him, shock written all over his face.
“This is very cool,” Jack said casually as they walked through the woods, “I wonder if we’ll find a snake…” he trailed off, leaning down to grab some of the flowers.
Dean sighed, “Jack,” he cleared his throat, “Hey, buddy, we gotta talk eventually.”
“I am aware,” Jack sighed, standing back up and messing with the flowers he’d picked absentmindedly, refusing to make eye contact with him.
“There isn’t...a single excuse good enough for how I treated you,” Dean told him, “It was bad and it was wrong...no kid should be treated like that, ever, no matter what’s happened.”
“No matter what I’ve done?” Jack whispered, still looking down at the flowers.
“No matter what,” Dean shook his head, “I’m sorry I blamed you for stuff you couldn’t have controlled or the mistakes you made. I want to make it up to you...whatever way you’re okay with. We’re family, you’re a Winchester, and I’m sorry I didn’t treat you that way.”
Jack finally looked up at him and smiled weakly, “Thank you, Dean,” he told him, “I am happy living where I am, but...I miss you all very much, despite everything. I want us to be a family again.”
“I want that too,” Dean said before pulling him into a tight hug.
Jack hugged him back just as tight.
…
Samandriel came over to the table and sat down across from Castiel, surprising most of the people sitting there.
“Uh, Alfie, hey-” Sam started.
“I do not blame you for what happened to me,” Samandriel said firmly, “I think that most of the people here understand what it’s like to be under Heaven’s control. I would like you to please stop ignoring me now because I always wanted to get to know you and you acting like I do not exist out of guilt is very annoying.”
Silence.
Balthazar laughed in shock, “Well, free will certainly agrees with someone.”
“I...am sorry,” Cas cleared his throat, “You’re right. It was wrong of me to ignore you.”
Samandriel smiled, “Okay, thank you. I forgive you. Now, Kevin gave me this seashell and is very nice to me, it makes me feel odd. What does that mean?”
Balthazar burst out laughing.
…
Adam had his head ducked down, talking to Michael away from the rest of the group when Dean and Jack came back.
“You two are having a kid?” Dean asked bluntly as they walked over.
“Yes,” Adam crossed his arms then wrinkled his nose, “Your skin is red, you’re going to get a sunburn, just listen to Sam and put the sunscreen on.”
“You didn’t think to tell us?” Dean asked, ignoring the other comment, “We’re going to be uncles, it’s something to celebrate.”
“No,” Adam deadpanned, “It’s none of your business. What isn’t processing here?”
“We’re a family,” Jack spoke up, “I understand that you do not like Dean, but he is my family. I wanted to share my joy about having a new family member soon, so I told him.”
Adam took a deep breath and smiled at Jack, “You’re right, Jack...I’m sorry for snapping. Yes, Dean, we’re having a child.”
“Think this is a good time for that?” Dean asked.
“I doubt it’ll ever be the perfect time,” Adam said, taking Michael’s hand, “But it’s what we’re doing. Either support it or don’t, I don’t really care.”
Dean cleared his throat and nodded stiffly, “Of course we’ll support it...kid’s gotta know their uncles, right?”
“Not really,” Michael mumbled.
“Well,” Gabriel said, throwing his arms around Michael and Adam’s shoulders and squeezing between them, “Personally, I’m happy the little nephilim is out of the bag, now we can get down to the serious celebrating!”
“Can he even drink while he’s carrying?” Dean smirked.
Adam rolled his eyes, “Neither of us are carrying, asshole.”
…
“That was such a good idea,” Dorothy commented as they put stuff away in the storage room, “I haven’t felt this relaxed since we got back here,” she laughed weakly.
“Yeah, that tends to happen around Sam and Dean,” Charlie explained, “Trust me, I love them, they’re basically my family...but their lives are exhausting.”
“What are your plans for after this?” Dorothy asked suddenly.
Charlie looked at her and raised an eyebrow, “After?”
“I mean...after the whole...defeating God thing, y’know?” Dorothy asked.
“Oh,” Charlie sighed, “I don’t know. I’ve never really thought that far ahead, we’ve been so busy. I guess I might go back to hunting? I was pretty good at that.”
“I can’t think of anything I want to do,” Dorothy mumbled, “I’ve been so focused on Oz the last few years, it’s been so busy. Now it’s basically self-sufficient and I don’t really know what I’m supposed to do with myself,” she admitted, “This isn’t my world, it hasn’t been for a really long time.”
Charlie put a hand on her arm, “Hey, you always have us. We’re always going to be here.”
Dorothy smiled weakly, “I appreciate that...having you...I mean...all of you,” she sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
Charlie smiled at her for a moment.
Dorothy rolled her eyes, “Okay, this is getting exhausting,” she said before leaning down and kissing her.
…
“Jack seemed like he’s doing good,” Dean said awkwardly as they sat in the kitchen.
“Yeah,” Cas sighed, his voice small and quiet, “He does. He deserves to have that kind of life, where he’s happy,” he swallowed, “Even if it isn’t with us.”
Dean sighed, “He’ll be back one day...said he wants us all to be a family again.”
“The house is a better place for him to live a life, not the bunker,” Cas cleared his throat, “And no, Dean, that’s not me taking Adam’s side, it’s me taking Jack’s.”
Dean scrubbed his face with his hands, “I wasn’t going to say that. I’m trying here, okay?”
“I know,” Cas nodded, looking down at his hands.
“Cas…” Dean trailed off.
“I am not with Balthazar,” Cas said quietly, “That is in the past. I love him, I always will, but it is a platonic love now.”
“Why are you telling me that?” Dean asked.
“I just...wanted you to know,” Cas told him, “Because everyone is thinking about their future, about what they want after all of this is over,” he stood up, “I am going to go make sure Jack made it home okay,” he said before disappearing right in front of Dean’s eyes.
Dean stared at the spot he’d disappeared from and sighed, “What the hell?”
Another familiar face returns and Adam gets some answers about how everyone is being brought back...will he tell anyone or keep it between him and the source of the truth?
“Where were you?” Jack asked curiously, tilting his head when Castiel appeared in the library, taking a seat across from him at the table. He’d been working with Adam, who simply sighed when the angel appeared, looking a little annoyed but not saying anything.
“I was taking Sam and Dean to their appointments,” Castiel said simply, “It is...odd, seeing them talk things out.”
“Yeah, well, most people tend to use basic communication skills,” Adam mumbled, tossing a pencil down, realizing it was basically pointless to try to work on Jack’s schooling while anyone was around to distract him, “I guess having an incompetent bastard for a father doesn’t really help...case in point,” he mumbled, looking Castiel up and down.
Cas narrowed his eyes but didn’t say anything, quickly changing the subject, “Seeing the three of you go through this has made me evaluate myself...and all my mistakes,” he explained, “It has been good for all of us.”
“Mistakes?” Jack asked.
“I’ve made many,” Cas shrugged, “I mean, most people do...I just make a little more than most people sometimes, I think.”
“Like what?” Adam snorted, “You seem to be the local favorite angel, I can’t imagine you making many.”
Cas actually scoffed, “Oh, there have been plenty...some I don’t care to mention in front of Jack,” he cleared his throat, “When I was under the control of Heaven, especially Naomi, I made many mistakes. I even took the life of another angel,” he smiled sadly, “Jack, he really reminded me of you. He was young and bright and had so much faith in humanity. I wish you two could have met.”
Jack looked down when he saw the look on Cas’ face, “Do you miss him?”
“Yes,” Cas nodded, “Sometimes. I didn’t really know him well, but he...admired me, in a way.”
Adam glanced at the look on Cas’ face before clearing his throat, “Hey, Jack, let’s get back to work, okay? I want to make sure we wrap up this unit before your Uncle Mike and I go out.”
“Okay,” Jack mumbled.
“I will let you get back to your work,” Cas stood up quickly, “I am going to go and speak with the others and see if they’ve made any progress on Chuck,” he said, touching Jack’s shoulder before heading out.
“That’s so sad,” Jack said, looking up at Adam, “It always feels like they’ve lost so many people...it makes them sad and I don’t like it.”
“It’s part of life, buddy,” Adam smiled sadly, “Things happen, y’know? Can’t change it or dwell on it...we just gotta honor the people we lose that deserve it.”
Jack smiled slightly at that, “Like going to visit my mom’s grave and giving her flowers?”
“Exactly like that,” Adam nodded with a smile.
...
“You okay?” Gabriel asked an hour later, appearing in the office waiting room as Sam walked out, scaring some poor other hunter shitless, probably.
“Yeah,” Sam mumbled, “Can we just...get out of here?
He moved slightly, putting his head on Gabriel’s shoulder as they stared up at the stars, holding hands.
...
“I’m just saying, he can’t beat all of us,” Charlie said, “It’s like the Power Rangers! We team up and take down the big bad all together!”
“For some reason I think God might be a bigger problem than a one-off thirty minute villain,” Kevin sighed, looking over at Balthazar, who was leaning back in his chair, his feet on the table, “Can you at least try to act like you’re helping?”
“No,” Balthazar said simply, looking up when Adam and Michael came into the room, “Where are you two off to all dressed up?”
“Paris,” Michael deadpanned.
Balthazar rolled his eyes, “Any specific reason you’re going to Paris?”
“It is the anniversary of the first time Adam and I spoke to each other,” Michael said, grabbing his hand.
“We’re going to Fouquet's,” Adam smiled, “Hence the blazers.”
“Disgustingly adorable,” Balthazar rolled his eyes.
Jack suddenly leaned over the banister, “Can you bring me back macarons again?”
“Yes, but you cannot have them until morning, you are getting ready for bed,” Michael said simply.
“Yes!” Jack cheered before rushing off to his room.
Michael wrinkled his nose when he saw the group staring at him, “What?”
“It’s just nice to see you acting like you have emotions with someone other than Adam is all,” Dorothy mumbled.
Michael rolled his eyes before turning to Adam, “Ready to go, darling?”
“Yup,” Adam said simply and they disappeared from the room.
Kevin sighed, looking where they were standing, “Do they make anyone else feel grossly single?”
“Yes,” Cas deadpanned.
“Haven’t you and Dean worked your shit out yet?” Benny scoffed.
Cas narrowed his eyes at him, “No. Why don’t you give me some advice on that?”
Benny held his hands up in surrender.
“Well,” Charlie said, closing her book, “On that note, I’m giving up for the night,” she said, getting up, “Some of us actually need to sleep.”
“Same here,” Dorothy said, getting up and grabbing Toto in her arms, following Charlie out of the room.
“Your room is the other way,” Balthazar called to Dorothy, earning a middle finger from her, “Someone has certainly adjusted to the time period.”
“If the world ends and we all die and I’m still single at the end of it,” Kevin said, watching the two walk out together “I’m going to be pissed.”
...
“I am in need of a vessel again.”
“But how...I thought you were gone...”
“I thought I was too.”
“Well, I’m game...not like I have anything better to do.”
“I appreciate you, Matthew.”
“Anytime, Al.”
...
Balthazar had disappeared within the hour, Benny went...Kevin probably didn’t want to know, Cas went “out,” leaving Kevin alone to continue researching. If Gabriel hadn’t swept Sam away, he’d probably be up with him, given they were both insomniacs.
Kevin rubbed his eyes tiredly and sighed. He looked confused when he heard the sound of...knocking, from downstairs.
He immediately grabbed a gun and shoved went up to the door. Sure, there were a ton of angels running around, but he could handle himself after everything. If it was just someone screwing around with the bunker, he could easily handle it.
He finally found the source of the noise: the garage door. He stood on the tips of his toes to look out the windows and saw some guy standing there. He sighed, putting the gun away and opening up the door, “Look, you can’t be screwing around this place...it’s dangerous,” he shrugged, “And warn all your urban explorer friends too.”
“I am not...” the man trailed off, confused, “I am looking for Castiel. I tracked him to this location but I was unable to enter. Is it warded?” he asked curiously.
“Who are you?” Kevin demanded immediately, stepping back, his hand going to the gun in his pocket.
“My name is Samandriel, I am...was an angel of the Lord,” the man said formally, “I was dead and now I am not. I am looking for Castiel.”
“...Right,” Kevin sighed.
He didn’t know why he was surprised by so many people turning up alive at this point.
“C’mon inside,” Kevin smiled weakly, “He’s around here somewhere. I’ll find him for you.”
“What is this place?” Samandriel asked curiously as he entered, the garage door closing behind him. Kevin noticed him flinch slightly when the metal door closed, but didn’t comment on it.
“The Men of Letters Bunker,” Kevin explained, “Sam and Dean’s place, basically. It’s kind of our headquarters right now.”
“Headquarters for what?” Samandriel asked.
“The fight against God.”
...
“I just don’t understand how this shit keeps happening!” Dean said, pacing back and forth. Everyone was awake now and anyone who was out had returned. All the necessary tests had been done and it was definitely Samandriel, Grace and all.
“Can’t be just be grateful it’s happening?” Sam sighed tiredly, “It’s someone else to help.”
“Look, I’m not annoyed or anything,” Dean put his hands up, “I’m just trying to figure this shit out,” he looked at the large group of people in front of him...most of them were in pajamas, looking half asleep, “Anyone got any answers to this?”
Silence.
They all looked at each other...Adam looked at Castiel and Jack. Cas was looking at the floor and Jack was looking away awkwardly.
Dean rubbed his eyes, “Yeah, I figured.”
“It seems to be some unknown source resurrecting former allies,” Michael said simply.
“Thanks, genius, real helpful,” Dean sighed, “We already knew that.”
"I will search for an answer, but I doubt I will find anything in Heaven,” Michael said before disappearing.
“Was that...?” Samandriel mumbled in shock.
“Michael, yes,” Castiel nodded, “Along with Raphael and Gabriel.”
Samandriel dropped down on a knee immediately, “It’s an honor to meet you.”
“Oh, jeez,” Gabriel looked uncomfortable, “Uh...you don’t gotta do that, kiddo, just a handshake is completely fine,” he said and then elbowed Raphael.
“You do not have to do that,” the other archangel agreed.
Samandriel stood up, “It is an honor to meet you though...I should have said the same to Michael. I cannot believe you’re all here, in one place...” he trailed off.
“Fighting against dear old dad? Crazy, right?” Balthazar scoffed.
“Look, we’ll get you set up in a room,” Sam said to him, “I’m sure you’re...tired?” he trailed, “Do you need to rest? Cas rests sometimes.”
“It would be nice to have somewhere to settle down, thank you,” Samandriel nodded.
“C’mon, I’ll find you an empty one,” Sam smiled at him, leading him away with Gabriel in tow.
“Okay...back to bed, all of you, or whatever the hell you were doing,” Dean grumbled, rubbing his face, “I need sleep,” he said before walking off as well.
Adam waited until everyone had cleared out except Cas before speaking up, “Castiel-”
“Don’t,” Cas said quickly, “Adam, I am...begging you. Do not bring this up to Dean.”
“You talked to Jack about Samandriel, now here he is!” Adam said quickly, “Is Jack bringing these people back?” he demanded.
“Yes,” Cas sighed, “The same thing happened with Benny...I told Jack about him, he went to bed, then he was back when we were out looking for you.”
“This is...” Adam trailed off, “You’re worried Dean will freak?”
“Yes,” Cas said firmly, “Dean and Jack...they got off to a rough start. Things are as good as they can be with Jack getting his soul back now, but I won’t have Dean convinced Jack is some kind of monster in need of hunting.”
Adam swallowed and nodded, “So we keep this between us and us only.”
“You won’t tell Michael?” Cas asked.
“No,” Adam shook his head, “Mike is kind of in the same boat as Dean, I guess. He’s still a little freaked by a nephilim just being here, it took forever for him to warm up to Jack,” he explained, “He’s so happy being his uncle now, I don’t want anything to change that.”
Cas nodded, not sure what else to say except, “Thank you.”
“So, what? Did you have some big storytime the night everyone came back?” Adam asked.
“No,” Cas sighed, “But I remember that night and I think I know what happened...”
...
Jack Kline peered around the door to the kitchen when he heard the sound of shuffling. He figured Dean was a little tipsy again, which was nothing new, but it was Sam and that was certainly new.
“We’ve done so much,” Sam whispered, “An-And it was all for nothing. We lost so many people and now it’s just gonna end? Just like that?”
“C’mon, Sammy, you’re gonna wake Jack up,” Dean sighed, obviously the sober one here, “We can talk tomorrow when you’re feelin’ better- Jesus, Sam,” he grumbled when his younger brother hugged him tightly, burying his face in his shoulder. He just rubbed his back, not saying anything after that.
Jack stared at them with watery eyes. Sure, he’d seen them upset before; he’d seen all of them upset before. But lately Sam seemed so hopeless and that was something he wasn’t used to.
“They’re all gone,” Sam choked out, “All our allies, all our friends and family, they’re just gone and we have nothing to show for it. Everyone is gone,” he whispered.
“C’mon, Sammy, let’s get you to bed,” Dean sighed, trying to console his younger brother.
“Jack,” Castiel interrupted his watchful gaze, suddenly appearing behind him, “I thought you were sleeping,” he said before looking over to Sam and Dean. He quickly stepped in front of Jack’s view, “Let’s get you back to bed.”
“How many people, exactly, have they lost?” Jack asked quietly as they walked down the hallway, he looked over his shoulder, back towards the kitchen, despite not being able to see them anymore.
“Many,” Castiel said softly, “But...it’s nothing you need to worry yourself about.”
Jack sighed and nodded, walking with his father-figure back to his room.
…
Jack turned fitfully in his sleep. He didn’t sleep often and when he did it was usually only for a few hours. Castiel said it was the angel side of him fighting with the human side, as an explanation. It was more mixing dreams with what was really going on in his life, but Jack wasn’t going to bring it up.
He loved Sam and Dean so much, they were like fathers to him...they are his dads. Seeing them suffering hurt so much. He just wanted his loved ones to be happy and together.
He didn’t see why things were so unfair.
He just wanted to bring some of them back, just so they could have some help.
Just so Sam could have some hope again.
…
“WHAT THE HELL?!”
Jack blinked awake after what felt like just a few moments, but he knew it was morning now. He sat up quickly and ran to his door when he heard yelling outside.
“This is some shit,” an unfamiliar voice said, “We were just...changing a-and we were here all the sudden. Did you really have to kidnap us again?”
“Oh yes, sure looks like you two were changing, kiddo,” a voice that sounded like his Uncle Gabriel said.
But it couldn’t be...his uncle was dead.
Jack walked down the hallway quickly, trying not to run as he continued to listen.
“Shut up,” Dean barked quickly, “And when the hell did you get another vessel?”
“Shortly after you and Castiel went to Purgatory,” another voice said simply, “Can we leave now?”
“I didn’t bring you here!” Dean said, sounding frustrated, “I don’t even want you here-”
“Nice.”
“I didn’t...mean it like that, man.”
“Sure.”
“Adam-”
“Well, as fun as this is,” an accented voice said, “What exactly brought us all here?”
“Uh…” Jack said awkwardly, standing on top of the stairs, looking down at several unfamiliar faces, along with the face of his Uncle Gabriel, Dean, and Castiel.
“Jack,” Castiel said quickly, hurrying up the stairs, “We didn’t know you were up yet,” he said, looking over at Dean helplessly.
“What’s going on?” Jack asked, looking at all the people; six he didn’t know all together, along with definitely being able to sense some Grace in a few of them.
“I leave for...ten years, your time, and you break one of our most serious laws,” one of the men growled, his voice getting louder. He blond man put a hand on his arm and Jack didn’t know if it was to calm him or hold him back.
“Oh please, calm down, Mikey, we all know Cassie doesn’t get lucky,” Gabriel scoffed, “It was Lucie...duh,” he added for good measure, “I figured you’d sense it.”
“Well, my powers are...not what they used to be,” the guy, Michael, Jack realized, huffed, his hands still gripped into fists, “But still…”
“He’s just a kid,” the blond guy said softly to Michael.
Michael took a deep breath through his nose and nodded, obviously listening to the guy.
“I was just chilling in Heaven,” a red headed woman said, “And trust me, it was good, and now I’m here. Wanna explain, guys?”
“Trust me, I know the feeling,” the blond scoffed, earning a glare from Michael.
“I...I think I may have...accidentally-” Jack started, but he was quickly hushed by Castiel.
“Who knows what’s going on,” Castiel said quickly, “With everything going on, we shouldn’t be surprised,” he said, walking down the stairs with Jack this time, “Jack...this is…” he trailed off, pursing his lips and looking over at Dean.
Dean sighed, gesturing to the people in the room as he went, “This is Michael, your uncle, the real Michael; Adam; Charlie, total genius and freakin’ queen; Dorothy and her damn dog from the Wizard of Oz; Balthazar, your other uncle; Kevin, he’s family, got it?”
Adam snorted, “I’m family too, by the way...blood only.”
Jack raised an eyebrow.
“He’s, uh...our younger brother,” Dean said, looking away, obviously unsure.
“Half-brother,” Adam added, “Dad’s side. Shocker, right?”
“Oh, I like you already,” Gabriel commented.
Michael glared at him, putting his arm around Adam.
“Give it a rest, big guy, I’m not after your human boytoy,” Gabriel rolled his eyes.
Sam emerged then, looking like he was half asleep still.
“That human boytoy, on the other hand…” Gabriel smirked.
“What…?” Sam trailed off.
Hungover, Jack thought to himself and Balthazar snickered.
“...we’re gonna need some drinks,” Dean finally said, breaking the silence.
“Is this real?” Sam blinked a few times.
Kevin ran over to Sam suddenly, pulling him into a tight hug.
“I agree completely,” Charlie added before running over and hugging him as well. She grinned, looking back at the others, “Anyone else wanna join in on this?”
“Hard pass,” Adam deadpanned, his arms crossed, “It’s been fun, but we need to go.”
“Wait,” Michael said softly, “If we are here, there must be a reason. We should stay and help them.”
Adam just shook his head, taking a deep breath, “I’m going outside for a cigarette, let me know when you come to your senses,” he mumbled, stalking out quickly.
“He’s your brother, why doesn’t he want to stay?” Jack asked, looking at Dean and Sam, confused, “We’re family.”
“It’s...a long story,” Dean swallowed.
…
“So...you think the universe is telling you to keep fighting our dad by bringing all of us back here?” Gabriel asked, leaning on the counter.
“I mean...that has to be it, right? There’s no other explanation,” Sam said, sitting at the table, now drinking his coffee, “Whoever brought you guys back, brought back some of our most powerful allies. It’s a sign.”
…
“I think...I brought them back,” Jack breathed out, sitting with Castiel, “It was an accident, I don’t know how I did it. But...seeing Sam hopeful again, I wouldn’t take it back.”
“Jack,” Cas said quietly, “I understand wanting him to have hope again, but this...it can’t happen again. It’s amazing, but it’s not right. We don’t understand your powers or the repercussions this could have.”
Jack stared down at this feet.
“This can not happen again and no one can know,” Castiel told him, “For your safety, if anything. Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
...
NOW
“So this entire time, you’ve known?” Adam asked.
“Yes,” Cas said quietly, “I don’t like keeping secrets from Sam and Dean, but...I’ve explained this to you. It’s for Jack’s safety that this stays between us. I...love you having a place in Jack’s life, Adam, you genuinely care for him and want to protect him in the same ways that I do. Help me protect him from this.”
Adam nodded, “I already told you, man...this stays between us, for Jack’s sake.”
...
“I hope this is okay,” Sam explained, “I mean...I know this probably isn’t okay, but...” he trailed off with a shrug.
“I just need to rest, thank you,” Samandriel nodded, “Thank you for giving me a place to stay, Sam Winchester.”
Sam and Gabriel talk, the gang goes on a quest to find Adam, an old friend returns, someone gets hit by a car, and Chuck proves how far he’s willing to go just out of spite.
“Hey, kiddo, what are you doing up?” Gabriel asked as he wandered into the bunker’s kitchen. There were a lot of people living in the bunker now, but the person he was always expecting the least was the youngest Winchester brother, Adam. The kid didn’t tend to leave the room he and Michael claimed shortly after they arrived, despite Michael frequently leaving to talk to him, Raphael, or Jack...sometimes even Castiel.
Adam pointed to a bowl of cereal with his spoon, his mouth full of the sugary stuff that Gabriel loved and Sam probably despised and didn’t know was in the bunker.
“Breakfast at three in the morning? You Winchesters are worse insomniacs than us and we don’t even sleep,” Gabriel laughed.
“Milligan,” Adam corrected as soon as he swallowed his cereal, “And yeah, I just woke up a while ago...didn’t get to sleep ‘til probably nine though.”
“Should get that checked out,” Gabriel said simply.
“I didn’t sleep in hell,” Adam shrugged, “And didn’t sleep when Mike was still...in me,” he cleared his throat, “It’s just hard to get back on a normal schedule. Fighting God and being stuck quarantined with my brothers isn’t exactly high on my list of things to call normal either.”
“Yeah, well...gonna be hard to ever be normal with my geek brother around,” Gabriel smirked, leaning on the counter.
Adam scoffed out a laugh, “You get used to him...eventually.”
“Yeah, only took me a couple hundred years of living with him,” Gabriel chuckled.
“Me too,” Adam said simply, going back to eating.
Gabriel hummed to himself, deciding to look through the cabinets as well.
“You ever gonna make a move on my brother?” Adam asked around a mouthful of cereal, “I thought the sexual tension would dissipate a little with Dean and Castiel finally getting it on, but there’s still you and then Charlie and Dorothy,” he snorted, “It’s kind of exhausting having to deal with it all the time.”
“Okay, first of all...you don’t even leave your room,” Gabriel scoffed, “Second of all...not your business and never gonna happen, either.”
“Y’know, I thought I was gonna marry my high school boyfriend...never thought I’d end up with an actual archangel. Never say never, man,” Adam shrugged.
“Never, trust me, kid. Just ‘cause you’re banging my brother doesn’t make you an expert on archangel-human relations,” Gabriel snapped.
“Might not be an expert, but we’re the healthiest relationship out there. Actually communicating is key,” Adam stood up, taking his cereal bowl with him, “Okay, enough interaction with you guys for the day,” he said as he walked out of the kitchen.
“You just woke up,” Gabriel called after him.
“Exactly,” Adam called back.
Gabriel sighed, watching after him. He shook his head and closed his eyes, sensing the rest of the occupant of the bunker for something to do. Dean was in bed in his room with Castiel; Charlie was up in her room, watching a movie; Kevin was sleeping; Adam had returned to his room and was talking to Michael; Raphael was...oddly watching television (tempting to check on, he’d have to go back to that one); Jack was sleeping; and Balthazar was no where to even be found in the bunker.
That left Sam, who was in the library, awake.
Gabriel sighed, scrubbing his hands over his face.
He would have to face the music eventually and he’d rather it be alone than in front of everyone.
…
Sam looked up when Gabriel came into the library. He was half asleep, resting his head on his hand as he read through another book, searching for some sort of answer where he knew most likely he wouldn’t find one.
“Hey,” Sam said softly, giving Gabriel an awkward smile.
“Hey, kiddo,” Gabriel smiled weakly, “Look, uh...we should talk about…” he gestured between them.
“Yeah...probably,” Sam said, closing the book and rubbing his eyes tiredly, “Look, Gabe...we’ve been through a lot together.”
“We have,” Gabriel said, leaning on the bookshelf, “And I get it, trauma brings people closer...” he shook his head, “Sam, you don’t know anything about the archangel-human relationships thing. You know a lot, I get it, but…”
“So, what? You think because of me and Lucifer that I can’t...what? Have a relationship with you?” Sam asked, crossing his arms, “I told you I needed you, Gabe...I meant it. But if you don’t...want that, just say it, and I’ll back off, obviously.”
“Sam, I’m worried about you, not me,” Gabriel chuckled, “Fuck the Asmodeus shit, man, but you...you were my brother’s chewtoy for how long exactly?”
Sam grit his teeth, “So what? I’ve moved on, that’s what matters.”
“My brother did that to you,” Gabriel said quietly, “My feelings aside, I’m going to respect what you’ve been through.”
“Respect it by letting me move on,” Sam snapped, standing up, “How is it fair that just because of something I’ve been through, I don’t get to be happy?” he demanded, “Look, thank you for caring...but I’ve moved on, Lucifer is gone, and I want to be happy...with you.”
Gabriel pursed his lips, “Sam-”
Sam leaned down, pressing his lips against Gabriel’s.
Gabriel’s eyebrows went up slightly in shock and he put his hand on the back of Sam’s neck, pulling him down to deepen the kiss.
“Sam- oh,” Dean said in shock, causing the two to pull away, “Well...good for you. Bigger issues right now though, Adam’s gone.”
“Adam’s always gone, get out,” Gabriel said immediately.
“Adam’s gone and Michael can’t contact him,” Dean added, “So let’s skip the making out and go find cousin Oliver.”
…
“So Dean lost someone else?” Jack asked softly as they sat at the table.
“I mean...yes, Dean has lost many, many people,” Castiel explained, looking up from the book he was reading, “We’ve had many allies we’ve lost over the years, but Benny’s death hit Dean particularly hard, even though he won’t admit it.”
“I see,” Jack said quietly, “That’s very sad.”
“Yes,” Castiel said simply, going back to the book.
Jack stared at him for a moment before sighing, “I am worried about Adam disappearing like that. I know you said it’s common for him to fight with Dean, but I am still worried. Uncle Michael can’t find him.”
“Dean and Sam will find him,” Castiel said, “If Michael can’t find him, there certainly isn’t anything we can do.”
Jack sighed, “I’m going to go to bed then...please wake me if they find him tonight, I’ll feel better,” he said before walking out.
…
“You really think none of us expected this to happen?” Adam scoffed, “We’ve been planning for this since we decided to help them the first time. You can hold me here as long as you want, Michael isn’t coming, dumbass.”
Chuck shook his head, “You know what...I regret writing you up sometimes, I really do. You’ve gotten under his skin in every single universe I make.”
Adam rolled his eyes, pulling on the ropes on his wrist again.
“You know there’s a universe where everything takes place entirely in Scooby-Doo?!” Chuck demanded, “And you’re...together in that one too!”
“You’re the one who makes the universes, it’s not my problem that Mike and I end up together,” Adam scoffed.
“You annoy me,” Chuck snapped, “Just like you annoy your brothers.”
“If you’re trying to get under my skin, it’s not going to work,” Adam said simply, “I’ve been through enough shit at this point, I really just don’t care anymore. You can’t make me lose hope like my brother because I don’t have any. I just don’t care.”
Chuck stared at him.
Adam sighed, putting his head back on the chair, “This is gonna be a long night,” he mumbled, looking down worriedly at the cut on his arm that was now leaking out the bright gold that he knew was Michael’s grace.
…
“Can you...feel him?” Dean asked, looking slightly grossed out when he said it.
“Vaguely,” Michael said softly, “Not nearly as strong as I should be able to...my grace is bonded with his blood, but it’s like my father is suppressing our bond, somehow. If I were closer, somehow...I would be able to find him.”
“Well, let’s load up then. We’ll drive around ‘til you get warmer or something,” Dean said simply, “Sam, Cas, you’re coming too.”
“Yeah, no shit,” Sam scoffed, “Our brother is missing, Dean,” he snapped, grabbing a duffle bag, “You might like to fight with him every other day, but some of us are worried,” he said before stalking out.
“I think you angered him,” Castiel said simply.
Dean sighed, “Thanks, Cas. Very helpful.”
…
“Anything?” Dean asked as they drove towards town. Michael was practically sticking his head out the window like a dog, but Dean wasn’t about to comment on it. Or comment on the fact that the archangel had taken shotgun, making Sam and Cas sit in the back...he would have preferred either of them to the guy who almost wore him to prom/was boning his little brother.
“West,” Michael called over the wind.
“Adam has witch in his bloodline on his mother’s side, yes?” Castiel asked, “We could try to summon him.”
“Was I the only one who didn’t know about that?” Dean demanded.
“Most angels know about the bloodlines of the chosen vessels, Dean, even the backup ones,” Cas said simply, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, “And you never spoke about Adam, so I didn’t exactly bring it up.”
“Wow, Dean, everyone knows you never spoke of your brother,” Michael snarked.
“Less talking, more tracking,” Dean snapped, glaring at him for a moment before quickly turning back to the road.
“Watch out!” Sam yelled and the Impala hit the person right in front of them, breaking the window as the impact was made.
“Shit!” Dean yelled, slamming on the breaks.
“Did we just hit someone?!” Sam demanded.
Dean jumped out of the car quickly, followed by the others, “Goddamnit,” he cursed, running over to the person who was lying on the ground, “He dead?”
The man on the ground groaned as he sat up.
“That is a vampire,” Michael said immediately, taking a step back, grabbing Castiel’s arm as he did to prevent him from going any closer.
Cas looked down at his hand on his arm, glaring.
“Oh my god,” Sam breathed out.
“Benny?” Dean asked in shock.
“Well,” Benny laughed, “Startin’ to get real used to seein’ your face when I come back to the dead, Dean.”
“We don’t have time for this,” Michael snapped, “Why are you shocked after the amount of people that have been brought back now? Kill it, we need to move on and find Adam...the trail is getting colder.”
“I…” Dean trailed off in shock.
Benny pulled Dean into a tight hug, which caused both Michael and Cas to roll their eyes for very different reasons.
“Dean,” Sam said, still looking at the vamp in shock, “I hate to say it, but Michael is right...we gotta go.”
“We’re lookin’ for our younger brother, he’s missing,” Dean said, pulling away, “We’ll...talk later. Come with us, you can come back with us.”
Benny raised an eyebrow, looking over to Cas and Sam, “You sure about that?”
“Yes,” Dean snapped, “But...he’s right, we gotta go. Everyone back in the car.”
…
Sam cleared his throat once they were back on the road and Michael continued to sit in the passenger seat with his head out the window. Sam was between Castiel and Benny in the back and it was...uncomfortable to say the least.
“When did you get back, Benny?” Sam asked, trying to break the awkward silence as Cas stared out the window.
“Hell, probably not even an hour ago,” Benny said, looking shocked, “Just...woke up. I was tryin’ to see where I was, lookin’ for a sign or somethin’, when you boys hit me with the damn car.”
“Sorry about that,” Dean said, glancing in the mirror, “Lucky you’re a vampire.”
“Lucky,” Ben chuckled under his breath.
“I do not approve of working with a vampire but I do not care about your sexual preferences right now, Dean,” Michael said bluntly.
“Who’s this guy?” Benny asked.
“Michael,” Dean told him, “Like...the archangel, Michael.”
“Damn,” Benny said in shock, “Why’s he hangin’ his head out the window like a dog?”
“He has some...soul bond or something with my little brother,” Dean grumbled, “He can sense him.”
“Well damn,” Benny said, looking at Sam in shock.
“What? Not me,” Sam said quickly, “Our youngest brother, Adam.”
“I am not surprised he failed to mention us, Benjamin, they left us to rot in Hell for ten years after being the reason we were in,” Michael said suddenly.
“Yeah, it’s Benny,” he corrected.
“Turn right,” Michael said quickly, grabbing the steering wheel.
“Fuck!” Dean yelled, batting his hands away and turning the little less sharp than Michael had tried to make them, “Hands off, you feathered dick!” he yelled. He stopped the car when they came to face an abandoned looking cabin, “Seriously?”
“Yes, he is in there,” Michael said immediately, “But it is warded, I cannot get inside by flying, I tried.”
“Well,” Dean said, grabbing his gun, “Guess we’ll go in the old fashioned way.”
…
Dean kicked down the door, “Adam?” he yelled, “Chuck, where are you, you son of a bitch?!”
“Only one heartbeat here,” Benny added as they walked inside.
Michael ran inside, immediately over to Adam, where he was tied to the chair.
“Dean,” Benny took a step back, shaking his head, eyeing the blood on Adam’s arm, “I don’t know how long I’ve been gone, but I ain’t back to myself yet.”
“Go outside,” Dean said immediately, taking out his knife and cutting through the ropes, “Adam? Adam, hey, wake up, man,” he said, touching his cheek, “Adam!”
“Fuck,” Adam gasped, “Michael?” he asked immediately, looking over with a tired smile, “Hey.”
“Move,” Michael snapped at Dean, kneeling down, “I will heal him,” he said, his voice suddenly soft, “He’s lost a lot of blood.”
“Mike, he...he took…” Adam choked out.
“Rest,” Michael said immediately, caressing his cheek, “You need to...are you okay if I…?”
“Yeah...Yeah, Mike, you’re good,” Adam said, offering him a loving smile.
Michael nodded and pressed his fingers to the side of Adam’s head and his blue eyes drooped closed.
“What the hell?” Dean demanded.
“He needed to rest and I need to heal him,” Michael said softly, “He is not here...he just wanted to prove he could do this,” he choked out, his grip tightening slightly but not enough to hurt as he held onto Adam’s wrist. He pressed his forehead to Adam’s, mumbling something in Enochian.
“We’ll have to go outside in order to transport ourselves back to the bunker,” Cas said softly, “I can take the Impala back, if you want to be with your brother, Dean.”
“Thanks,” Dean said, tossing him the keys without a second glance, not taking his eyes away from Adam.
…
“So what was the angle?” Gabriel asked as they stood in the main room of the bunker.
They were all gathered there and Adam was awake, sitting close to Michael at the table with a blanket around his shoulders.
“He’s running out of moves,” Adam said softly, “He knew Michael helped out Sam and Dean and wanted to get to him, probably...I’m what gets to Michael.”
“That is not a bad thing,” Michael mumbled, his hand still holding Adam’s tightly. He cleared his throat, “My grace that was entwined with Adam’s soul is gone...I’m pretty sure he just wanted to break our bond out of spite for what I’ve done.”
“Yeah, sounds like him,” Gabriel snorted, “How you feelin’, kiddo?”
“Not myself,” Adam shrugged, “But...fine. Mike healed me,” he looked over to the guy standing beside Dean, “Who are you?”
“Benny, he’s a friend,” Dean said immediately, “You should get to bed, kid.”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” Adam said before Michael rolled his eyes and snapped his fingers, the two of them disappearing.
“They’re probably going to fornicate,” Cas deadpanned.
Benny burst out laughing, “Can’t believe I’m sayin’ it, Castiel, but I missed you.”
“Okay,” Sam stalked into the kitchen, Gabriel hot on his heels, “I’ve had enough.”
“Sam-” Gabriel started.
“No, no, he needs to hear this,” Sam said quickly, holding up his hand and looking at his younger brother, who was mid-bowl of cereal that he swore he didn’t allow in the bunker.
Adam cleared his throat and swallowed, wiping his mouth on his sleeve, “Okay, go for it,” he deadpanned.
“You can’t just...talk about taking Jack away!” Sam said quickly, “I’ve tried with you, I-I really, really tried. I know we messed up! But do you really hate us that much that you’d take away our son?”
Adam stared at the two for a moment before raising an eyebrow at Gabriel, “What do you think, Gabe?”
“I...I’m not a part of this,” Gabriel said quickly, putting his hands up in surrender.
Michael appeared suddenly, standing close to Adam with his hands on his shoulders. Sam knew Adam didn’t call for him...maybe Michael could just sense when Adam was stressed out.
Adam didn’t look stressed out though; he was the picture of calm, cool, and collected.
“You were in law school,” Adam shrugged, “What happens when both a child’s parents die in the event there’s no will?”
“A judge decides who is best, no person is automatically guaranteed custody,” Sam said immediately, “And we don’t have a judge and we’re not in a court of law, Adam! This is...this is different.”
“Jack is a child,” Adam said, “He deserves a normal life and he deserves to be treated normally. You guys weren’t even teaching him anything except for hunting before we came along! He’s never even been to school!”
“We made mistakes!” Sam yelled, “Things will change after this is all over.”
“Yeah, they will,” Adam stood up, “I was actually going to say that Mike and I would get a house nearby and that Jack could stay with us or you, so he’d always have a place to go. Then he could go to school here in town. But no, you had to come in and jump me. Seems like you take after big bro just fine.”
Sam went silent, staring at him.
“You can admit your mistakes as much as you want, but nothing changes until you actually try to make up for them,” Adam said, grabbing Michael’s hand and walking out of the room, bumping Sam’s shoulder as he did.
Gabriel watched them walk down the hallway, sending a brief smile at Michael when his older brother turned back to look at him before quickly looking away.
“I’m still not comfortable with Jack helping out with this,” Sam crossed his arms, standing in the doorway.
They had a relatively empty room in the bunker that they’d used for storage, that Michael was currently drawing on the floor of. Most of the inhabitants of the bunker were watching, aside from Adam, who was helping his husband draw on the floor.
“Oh,” Michael said, looking up at him, “I didn’t ask,” he said bluntly before looking over at Jack, “Are you okay helping with this?”
“Whatever it takes,” Jack nodded.
Michael gave Sam a fake smile, “Then I really don’t care what you think.”
“What the hell are you two doing?” Dean demanded, finally pushing passed the the group in the doorway with Castiel.
“We are resurrecting Raphael,” Michael said simply, starting to pour the salt where he and Adam had drawn.
“No way,” Dean said immediately, “We’ll find another way, we aren’t doing this,” he said, going to grab the salt from Michael.
“I wouldn’t,” Adam said simply, though it sounded lazy.
Michael immediately threw Dean back before he could even touch him. The oldest Winchester probably would have fallen if it wasn’t for Castiel being close behind him.
“Do not,” Michael growled, “Interfere with this, Dean Winchester. You wanted a way to defeat my father, this is the way. We cannot kill him or we will all cease to exist...but we can trap him, like he did to the Darkness.”
“You mean the thing you guys did that took all four archangels?” Dean demanded, looking over at Sam, “You’re crazy if you think that I’m letting you bring Lucifer back.”
Sam paled, looking over at Adam, who just shook his head.
“We aren’t bringing Lucifer back, it is not an option,” Michael said, “But we do have his spawn-”
“Michael,” Adam sighed.
“We do have his son,” Michael said simply, “Who has some of Lucifer’s grace in his blood. He will be enough if we develop his powers,” he said before going back to doing the salt circle. He finished and then threw a cloth to Jack, “Cut yourself and put your blood on the cloth, we need the blood of a nephilim related to the angel.”
Jack looked over at Dean and Castiel, obviously questioning now.
“It’s okay, Jack,” Adam said quickly, “Mike knows what he’s doing...I trust him.”
Jack took a deep breath and nodded before cutting the palm of his hand.
“Jesus christ,” Dean groaned, looking away.
“Adam,” Michael handed the bowl to him that now had the cloth in it.
“Seriously? You’re making him do this?” Dean demanded, “Why can’t you do it?”
“I don’t have blood,” Michael scoffed.
“He’s not making me do anything,” Adam said simply, “Unlike you, I’m willing to do what needs to be done to stop Chuck,” he said before kneeling down and starting to chant, cutting his own hand the same way Jack did, letting it drip into the bowl.
“This is some bullshit-” Dean started.
“Shut up,” Michael snapped.
“-qui dormiunt, ad dominum formosum. Nexus noster, restitutus est. Surgas ex abysso, in lumine existas!” Adam finished and lit it on fire.
“Close your eyes,” Michael said immediately to the others, “Adam will be fine.”
“Are you kidding me-” Dean started but Cas simply put his hand over Dean’s eyes when the glowing started.
When they all looked back, Adam was on the ground.
“What the hell?” Dean growled, running over, “Adam, wake up...c’mon, man.”
Adam’s eyes shot open and they glowed blue.
“Get out,” Michael said immediately, “Find someone else. Now.”
His eyes glowed again before going back to normal and the light inside him disappeared through the ceiling.
“You know he was going to do that?!” Dean yelled, helping Adam up, “You’re okay.”
“I’m fine,” Adam scoffed, pushing Dean’s hands away, “They needed a temporary vessel. They/Them pronouns for Raphael, by the way. In order for the ritual to work there needed to be a willing vessel as soon as they came out, so I volunteered. It’s nothing I haven’t done before, Dean,” he said, getting up and sighing softly, “Didn’t miss that though...they’re more reckless than Mike.”
“Never do that again, you hear me?!” Dean yelled, “You aren’t just some vessel, you’re our little brother too.”
Adam stared at him for a moment before turning back to Michael when the archangel grabbed his hand, “It worked,” he said, changing the subject, “When will Raphael be back?”
“I’m assuming when they find a vessel,” Michael said simply before clearing his throat, emotion obvious in his voice, “We should...disburse though. They will not appreciate a crowd.”
“No, I definitely don’t,” a voice said suddenly.
“Damn, that was fast,” Gabriel said, laughing quietly as he looked at Raphael, “What’s up, sibling who never killed me?”
“I was in the Empty and now I am here,” Raphael said, looking at Michael in shock, “And you have allied yourself with...them?” they wrinkled their nose, “You have bonded with a human, Michael, what happened to you?”
“A thousand years spent with Lucifer and this one will make you see the lighter side of things,” Michael said simply, “We need your help, that’s why you’re here...you’ve always stood by me, Raphael, that’s what I’m asking you to do now.”
Raphael narrowed their eyes, “And you’re asking me to help the one who killed me with no mercy?”
“I don’t care,” Michael said simply, “I could care less about petty squabbles that Castiel has had in the past...we are here now to fight against our father and save his creation from himself.”
“The nephilim,” Raphael said suddenly, “Who dared to bring one into this world?”
“Lucifer,” Michael said, “How else would we have brought you back?”
Raphael’s eyes fell on Adam, “I just assumed…”
“No,” Michael said immediately before sighing, “Enough diversions, are you willing to help us or not?”
“I’m here, aren’t I?” Raphael asked, looking over the group in the bunker, “Surrounded by them. Oh, how the mighty have fallen, Michael.”
“Please do not speak ill of Adam or our nephew,” Michael sighed.
“My brothers are fair game though,” Adam commented from his place by Michael’s side.
“Hey,” Sam complained.
“Get me up to speed,” Raphael told Michael, “We have a war to fight, brother.”
