Last weekend I celebrated my 30th High School reunion with my beloved classmates and homies from Chula Vista High School- if you’re from Chula, there is a bond that I can’t explain, but it has kept many of us together for 30 years; and I legit love these people who grew up with me, trying to figure out who we were and who we wanted to be. I’ve been to every reunion, and every one has been wonderful in its own way, but I think this was the best so far. 💙 The first event of the 3-day celebration was a private, catered dinner at our friend @livingcatrina Luisa’s beautiful home, where we enjoyed batch cocktails, a wonderful dinner, DJ, 80’s themed party favors and candy, and a PHOTO BOOTH- with one of the featured backdrops being an actual interior shot of our gym. Needless to say we were all over that one. Not only did Luisa host and organize this amazing event, but she also arranged for an impromptu graduation ceremony for three of our classmates who weren’t able to walk at graduation (including Luisa herself)- she provided caps and gowns, and the MAYOR OF CHULA VISTA personally attended to present the “graduates” with certificates of recognition. (Unfortunately I didn’t get pics, but it was very special). This is the way we show up for each other and why after 30 years I still love and care for my classmates. Some of us have been friends since 7th grade. It’s really wonderful to me. . . @joatwood #cvhs #chulavista #chulvistahighschool #cvhsclassof91 #classof91 #spartans #cvhsspartans #homies #oldfriends #30yearreunion #lovethesepeople (at Chula Vista, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRuiWjNDhp9/?utm_medium=tumblr
