I saw a cute video and I thought of Price

The Taskforce just got back from another successful mission. They're still outside, stood in a circle to chat before heading their separate ways for the next couple of days.

The captain is in the middle of saying his thanks, when he notices Kyle's eyes flicking down next to him, his lips now trying to suppress a smile and look serious. He takes a peek for himself, only to feel like his heart is about to leap from his chest.

Price's little boy, not even two years old, has walked the small distance across the tarmac as if it's the most casual thing and has proceeded to calmly grab his father's pant leg. His little smile is radiant and Price can't help but immediately lift the child into his arms, continuing his chat like nothing is out of the ordinary.

You watch the scene from right next to base. You'd allowed your boy to waddle around, it wasn't a surprise he'd go to his daddy the second he realized he was right there.

Now your big scary captain looks closer to how you know him; domestic, soft. You can tell when he stops his talk because Johnny instantly takes a step closer and starts babbling to your child, who replies with excited squeals.

Simon knew he'd been spotted before he'd even gotten out of the car.

It was hard to miss, what with the excited shout of the child running towards him across the lawn. He took a deep breath to mentally prepare himself, still insecure about if he would be doing an ok job, even after all these years.

As always, his demeanor changed the second he stepped into the fresh air. He picked up the kid from where she had still been running towards him, greeting her and delighting in the giggle he drew from the little girl.

Something in the laugh, as high pitched as it was, always reminded him of Johnny. The overexcited sound both a sweet reminder and a stab to the heart. He never let its effects show in front of anyone, however.

With the girl in his arms he stepped up to the house, where you were watching from the doorstep, bag in hand. He couldn't help but notice the dark circles under your eyes were still there, but at least the were a lot better than when he'd first met you.

It felt like yesterday when he had to break the news of your husband's passing to you, already mentally drained from raising a newborn practically on your own. The way you'd wailed into his chest made him promise you to always help out where he could.

"Thank you for this," You still said it every time, glad to get the rare weekend to yourself, "I made this as well. You can just throw it in the oven, so dinner will sort itself out." Apart from your daughter's bag, you handed him a box of something, wrapped in aluminum foil. Knowing you, it was gonna be delicious.

"You work hard enough feeding you two, you don't have to bother with the effort." He tried to tell you every time. He owed you the help for not being able to save your Johnny.

"Effort's all I know, lieutenant." You tried to smile, but the exhaustion broke through the cracks clear as day.

"Not for two days." He reminded you, shifting his hold on your kid as she started happily interrupting the conversation with any and all thoughts that came into her brain.

Funny one, she was. She got that from her daddy.
