Send me a “@” for my character’s goodbye letter to yours.
Darling Quest,
I believe you have overestimated me. I am scared horrified terrified nervous that I may have…fallen in love with you. I am hardly an appropriate match for someone of your intellect.
You deserve someone much lovelier, who enjoys wearing shoes, and perhaps does not have dirt under her fingernails. Someone who is not horrendously musically challenged—someone who does not ask so many questions to the point where they annoy you. Someone who does not talk so much, and is much better at most things that I am not good at. Someone who is particularly prettier than others. Oh, you do deserve that.
I become skittish and nervous when I speak to you, and I often prepare what I wish to say before I even see you. I try to think of intelligent things to say, but I usually cannot. You are a darling angel who speaks clearly, and with purpose. You stand so straight, and always seem to give me your full attention. But oh!—it is so lovely to watch you become so entranced in thought. You are a storybook character—really.
I savor your little smiles at me, though you most likely give them to everybody. They are half smiles, that seem to promise to be saving the other half of the smile for a later time—undetermined, but a glint of hope.
Oh—I must sound stupidly childish and pathetic to your large brain! And this is why I should leave you—which is horrendously hard, for I adore you, Quest. You enchant me.
I do apologize for the pester I have most likely been. Please continue to play your beautiful music—it would be such a beautiful thing to waste.
My Love Sincerest Apologies,
Cosette.
