Earth would be different.
It was a mantra Aella had come to adopt in the time between her learning that she was going to come to Earth and her first touch of the cold, wet grass. It would be different here. Her mind drifted back to some memory dulled with the passage of time... some foggy image of nearly freezing in a lake, and the snow falling, but it wasn’t quite happening to her. Perhaps she read of it in a book. Either way... she was sure that happened on Earth, and that the chill was something upon which she could rather veritably rely.
The people would be different. The air would be different. Everything would be different.
And, in truth, it absolutely was.
The air tasted differently. The ground seemed to bounce beneath her soles. Chill was to be found within nearly every breeze. The sky was blue, and the trees and ground blazed green, and in the mornings there was a fine mist on everything. Even emotions felt different here. They had different shades, different vibrancies.
Earth was different.
Almost... too different.
She had wandered oft on T’Khasi, and she had hoped to leave that unfortunate habit behind, but how could she now, when the world was so full of things to explore? It was as though her feet drew her without her permission.
It was not long before she found herself far from her dormitory, standing in relative darkness, staring up at a large moon above her. It cast the entire world in light. Everything was alight and ablaze, here. Nothing like ha-k--... T’Khasi.
... Is that not what she wanted?
