he pauses just inside the threshold of his quarters, a small smile slipping onto the captain’s face at the sight of james. he’d ended up working through beta shift to catch up on his paperwork, long enough for the other man to take a nap in here waiting for him, it seemed.
jim walked over quietly, slipping himself next to him. “hey. don’t have to wake up, but i’m interested in you and your arms.” he murmured, just loud enough to attempt to rouse james.

It seemed… profoundly strange to her, that a human - from Earth - would have any confusion on who she was or where they were. Then again… stranger things had happened, and for all she knew, this guy could be high on red sand.
“Have to admit, though, I’m just as confused as you are as to how you got here. Not every day someone just appears in the cargo hold and scares the hell out of my requisitions officer.”
“Good to meet you, Commander Shepard. My apologies to your requisitions officer, didn’t mean to startle anyone.”
He wasn’t familiar with the Normandy, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t one. But he’s not sure what Council Spectre or the Tasale system is either. An alternate timeline without the Federation, maybe? He’d have to wait to see if she was trustworthy before he could ask the important questions.
“The Tasale system. That’s... a long ways away from Iowa. Just to make sure I haven’t lost any time... You wouldn’t happen to know the date?”
