     he's sunken into the cushions of his chair, fingertips pressed neatly together. it is the only thing neat about him. there's a slight sense of wrongness --  the unbelievable rigidness of his figure despite his slouched posture and slumped limbs, the way his pipe sits rather than rests between his lips, the bright, manic edge to the flickering and wild movement of gray eyes hiding behind half-closed lids.

     the moment is gone.

     shifting, sliding together, he slowly pulls himself from his thoughts. it is bizarre, as if waking from a dream -- holmes comes back to himself, already becoming aware of the anomaly in his flat before the first blink in what seems like too long a time. holmes hums, turning his head slightly to evaluate and observe, as he always does.
