Period cramps were killing me and I wondered how each of my ocs with periods would face them. First here's Cyan, who can't resist a mango yogurt treat.
I must say that not having diary to avoid pain during a period is a me thing and I don't know why it happens (i'm not lactose intolerant), please don't take this as a serious recommendation, it's just a projection on my own characters and has no scientific fundament whatsoever, that i know of.
“Help... help...!” The door slammed shut, leaving Cyrus alone with the last person he wanted to be with in this state. “No, please...!”
He heard laughter behind him, the kind that made his stomach turn.
“Giovanni... please....” He begged weakly. Rough hands grabbed his shoulders and threw him to the floor, flooding his body with white hot pain.
“You really thought we’d let you just get away, huh...” He stomped down on Cyrus’s chest hard, laughing as the younger man cried out in agony. “That’s not going to happen. You could have had a good life here, we could have helped you get out, but you wanted to be a goody two shoes.”
“Gio... please...” He choked, coughing blood.
“Ghetsis warned me not to kill you... unfortunately for you. He has a plan for you.” He sneered. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun...” He put the heel of his boot on Cyrus’s throat, watching him flounder for air. “You aren’t getting out of here. No one’s going to help you. You’re trapped...”
Cyrus gasped for air, trying to push the boot off of his throat, tears welling up in his eyes. Every nerve in his body screamed with pain. He hoped Gio would slip up and kill him. It would be a mercy compared to what Ghetsis would have in store...
“Arceus sake come in, please...” He ushered them in to the other room, ignoring the fact that three strangers somehow made their way across the ocean just to find him. “What happened to him? How did you find me? Who are you?”
Cyrus groaned and coughed, blood dripping down one corner of his mouth, and the smaller of the two young men pushing him whimpered and grabbed at his hand.
“He said you’d help. We didn’t know where else to go to get him help, everyone wants to hurt him.” The older of the two, still quite young, with silvery blue hair and a birthmark over his right eye, kept himself between the younger boy and Kabu.
“What happened to him?” He asked again, gently.
“They hurt him real bad. We didn’t think we were gonna get him out of there alive they hurt him so bad...”
Kabu waved his hand then. “Step aside, let me look at him.”
The younger looking blonde shook his head, clinging to Cyrus tightly.
“Please. I won’t hurt him, I have to make sure he’s okay.”
The taller boy pulled the smaller blonde away, holding onto him and nodded at Kabu to go ahead.
He went to work then, checking for external bleeding first, then broken bones, then, concerned that the blood he was seeing was internal. “I’m going to have to call a doctor.”
“Shhh, shhh. You can’t do that it’s too dangerous.” The taller warned. “They’ll only hurt him more.”
“Look. You’re in my house, you came to me for help. We do what I say understand?” He kept his voice stern, and they relented. “Okay? Okay. Both of you, follow me. You’re going to sit in the living room and stay out of the way until I tell you otherwise. Come on.”
He crossed his arms and led them to the living room. “Sit.”
The taller man struggled to keep the smaller from running back in to Cyrus, holding him on his lap and whispering, trying to calm him down.
“I’ll be back. Do not move.” He ordered seriously, before heading back into the other room with Cyrus, calling for a doctor.
“You miserable bastard...” He sighed. “What have your little friends gotten me into?”
**************
The doctor came and set about checking Cyrus out, making sure he wasn’t going to die, and Cyrus stepped back out and sat with the two strangers.
“Now. We’re gonna have a civil conversation, you and I, or I’m going to kick all three of you out. Do you understand?” Kabu was stern, not mean, but serious enough to make sure they knew he wasn’t messing around.
The taller man nodded, holding the blonde on his lap. He made a shushing motion. “I just got him to sleep. Don’t wake him up. He’s exhausted.” He whispered. “Please.” He added then, after a beat.
“Who are you?”
“My name is Cyan. This is Lincoln.” He gestured down to the blonde. “We’re Cyrus’s... friends. And we didn’t know where else to go. He mentioned you were going to help him, so we tracked you down.”
“Hmph.” He rolled his eyes at that. “Presumptuous of him. I can’t keep all three of you here. I don’t have room.”
“Th-that’s okay! That’s okay. We’ll find our own way. We just wanted to make sure that Cyrus was okay.”
Kabu looked them over quizzically. “Interesting... friends to make in a maximum security prison.” He noted, raising an eyebrow. “I can assume you’re criminals too, then?”
“What? No!” Cyan jolted Lincoln away on accident, who startled with a yelp. “Fuck. Shh, it’s okay I’m sorry...” He whispered. “Go back to sleep, it’s okay, Cyrus is still okay...” He soothed the blonde, who moved out of his lap, sitting beside him on the couch, glaring at Kabu silently. “We aren’t criminals, for your information.” He said bitterly. “And our connection with him is none of your business.”
“Fine. I’ll take you at your word. For now.”
Kabu made sure to reiterate that they were to stay seated as he wandered to the kitchen to make tea, bringing them each a cup. “Might as well drink up. Don’t know how long they’ll be.”
“You’re going to help him, right?” Cyan asked quietly over his cup. “You’re gonna help him get better?”
“I never said that.”
Lincoln’s lip quivered and he pulled on Cyan’s sleeve to get his attention, putting his cup down to sign. He has to help! No one else will help him what are we going to do?! Then he turned to Kabu. Please, you have to help him sir, he wants to get better!
“You’re wasting your time.” Cyan rolled his eyes. “He doesn’t know what you’re saying and if he did he wouldn’t care.”
Kabu frowned and signed back. Does your friend there sign too?
Cyan’s jaw dropped and Lincoln’s eyes lit up. You can sign you can sign?! His excitement was obvious in his motions.
“If there’s one thing I pride myself on about my gym, it’s accessibility.” He smiled at the young mans excitement, he couldn’t help it. “And yes, I can sign.” He took a deep breath. “Look, you don’t seem like bad kids. I want to help, but I just don’t have a lot of wiggle room here. I can’t be bringing in dangerous criminals to my home.”
“He’s not a dangerous criminal! He’s getting help! He’s getting better!”
The doctor knocked on the bedroom door frame, getting all of their attentions. “You may see him now.” He filled in Kabu on what needed done, that aside from some broken and bruised ribs he was surprisingly mostly alright, just exhausted, and took his leave. Before he could turn back around, his two guests had already invited themselves back into Cyrus’s room and were standing at his bedside.
He leaned against the door frame quietly and watched them, curious.
Cyrus’s eyes opened a crack and he groaned and muttered something, but before he could manage out a complete thought, Lincoln had already climbed up into bed with him, curling around him and being extra careful not to hurt his ribs. And then, Cyrus did something Kabu had never seen him do, and wasn’t even sure he could do: He smiled. Genuinely. And put an arm around the young man. “Bean...” He pulled him a little closer and kissed Lincoln’s cheek.
Cyan held Cyrus’s hand, forgetting that they were being watched. “You’re going to be okay right?” He asked, trying to sound brave.
“It’s gonna take a little more than this to kill me, Cy. Are you trying to get rid of me?” He joked, before his smile went slack and his head fell back onto the pillow.
“Cyrus?!”
Kabu decided this would be the best time to interrupt. “He’s alright. He’s just exhausted. Come on, leave him be. He’ll need his rest.”
Cyan pulled Lincoln away from the sleeping man and led him away. “He’s alright, Bean, don’t worry.” He looked up at Kabu for affirmation, and relaxed when he nodded.
“I’ll do what I can, okay?” Kabu couldn’t say no, couldn’t kick him out in his condition. “But I can’t make him get better if he doesn’t want to get better. We’ll keep in touch.”
He gave them a moment to say their goodbyes and shooed them out of his house.
He made some easy to digest food and grabbed a glass of water and sat it down next to Cyrus’s bedside, pulling a chair up beside him.
“You’re a lucky man, you know that right?” Kabu whispered. “If it weren’t for those two kids you’ve got following around, I’d have kicked you to the curb.”
Cyrus groaned. “I didn’t ask them to bring me here. I didn’t want them to come back for me.” He admit. “It was reckless... and dangerous... They’re better off without me.”
“They’re a little young to be with a guy your age, aren’t they?” Kabu asked, slightly accusatory in tone.
“What? They’re... I’m 27. They’re like a year younger than me.”
Kabu blinked a few times in surprise. Suddenly, he didn’t feel so bad about how he was aging.
“Oh.”
They sat in silence a while, and he managed to get Cyrus to drink a little water.
“How did you meet them? They wouldn’t tell me.”
Cyrus adjusted himself in the bed, trying to get comfortable, but he couldn’t get away from the ache in his chest. “Cellmate. Cyan was framed by Team Rocket. His dad’s a big wig with them. Met Lincoln at physical therapy.” He blushed a bit. “And we’re not dating. That’s not... we’re not.”
“Mmhmm. Sure.” Kabu chuckled. “We can’t do anything until those ribs heal, so I hope you’re comfortable for a while. Here, if you need something.” He sat a little bell down beside him. “I never go too far, one of us will hear it.”
“You mean the boy you were with?”
Kabu tensed. “Don’t go filling his head with ideas, you hear me? He’s dealt with enough villains in his life, he doesn’t need more trying to manipulate him.”
Cyrus exhaled loudly through his nose, which was the closest to a laugh he could muster, and closed his eyes to rest.
************
“He got away, sir.” The grunt’s voice quivered fearfully, though it was not his fault, there was always a chance he’d still pay the price for it.
“Hm. Unfortunate, but not the end of the world.” The man sat in shadow, eyes glinting in the darkness. “Yet.” His laugh echoed through the cell, and not knowing what else to do, the grunt let out a nervous laugh as well.
“He’ll need to be healthy and strong if he’s going to be of any help to us, after all...”
