i also play an aarakocra and i have so much trouble drawing their legs,, what are your tips

Since I’m rambly, the tutorial will be under a cut but TL;DR: Visualize how it’d work as a human leg/wing, and change proportions to fit with Bird Anatomy

Bird legs are really tricky, it helps to be able to visualize the joints and how they compare to Human legs (which are easier to find reference for and familiarize yourself with) 

You can see that from the hip up to the foot, the leg structure is quite similar to ours! I usually start by drawing regular human legs squatting, and adjusting the length of the different parts of the leg to be closer to Bird proportions

Birds have a lot of feathers on their legs (up to their feet) that kinda look like shorts, you can “cheat” by drawing (feathery) Pantaloons!

Bird legs are thinner than human legs, and will look odd if you draw them the exact same but it’s a good starting off point! You also want to make sure that they are placed so that they’d be supporting your character’s body and not throwing off their center of gravity.

If you’re having trouble drawing the bird’s talons/toes, I’d highly recommend googling a reference for the type of bird feet your bird is based off of and using that reference to guide you! 

And if you’re struggling with wings, I use a similar process by roughly sketching how a human arm would work, and then using google ref images of bird wings to fix it.

OkAY SO! A lot happened to Seeker. It’s still technically up just over at https://jiinsy.wixsite.com/seekercomic rather than the old site cause I didn’t have enough money to re-do the domaine. I am still working on it, it just took a LOng-ass break because 2019 was one of the worst years, including someone stealing around about $2500 from me, so y’know. Fun. 

BUT. Chan and I have chapter two all written out, and now that I’m both in a slightly better space physically and starting to get treatment for my severe ADHD, I have high hopes that it’ll be a bit more regular.
