1. Katarzyna
Katarzyna is perfectly blending her music genre with modeling. Her entire outfit is on full display and this would actually work well as a fashion ad. Despite being crouched and slouched she still managed to look tall and create angles with her limbs. Her face is brilliant as well. There’s a ton of emotion in the one eye we can see and I love everything about her angsty expression. Everything just came together perfectly to produce a fantastic picture.
2. Whitney
The top 2 shots were neck and neck and it was tough to decide between them. This is probably my favorite shot of Whitney throughout the competition. Her pose is so simplistic but full of attitude at the same time (I love her tilted shoulders). Her face is super strong here; her expression is so pained with a touch of anger that really works for her genre. I wish we could see some more of her outfit, but this is still a terrific shot of Whitney.
3. Fatima
Facially, this isn’t the most modelesque shot of Fatima but it’s not bad at all and she’s getting her genre across. She’s connecting well with the camera and I like her commitment to doing the tongue out expression. Her pose is one of my favorites this week. I love how she positioned her legs and I appreciate how she incorporated her prop without taking attention off of her clothes.
4. Dominique
Whoever styled Dominique needed to be fired because her outfit is jank as fuck. Overall I really like this photo though. Dominique’s slithery pose is awesome, it looks like she was in the middle of dancing on set. Her face could be a bit softer to fit the folk music concept, but it’s not like all folk music is sunshine and daisies. I think she did a great job of mixing fashion (or lack thereof for this outfit) and her given music brief.
5. Anya
This is my least favorite shot of Anya and it’s still a solid photo. I like how she used her set and there are a lot of angles in her pose. She’s embodying the spirit of punk very well, especially in her facial expression. It’s not the most amazing or memorable shot, but Anya did a good job this week.
6. Lauren
I’m not a fan of this shot at all. Lauren’s bent ankle is little too distracting for me, although her legs still look super long. Her face is not strong at all; with a somewhat commanding pose you’d think that she would stare down the camera fiercely, but if you go to the close-up she’s actually looking off to her left slightly and there’s no power in her eyes. Her lack of neck is a major problem as well; had she lifted her chin and actually made eye contact with the camera this would work a lot better. Lauren’s made her boots and the dress look good at the very least.
7. Claire
Country music should be so easy to portray but Claire failed her assignment. I wouldn’t mind the sitting pose if she had different styling, but this shows that she wasn’t aware of the garment since her legs have been mostly swallowed up in the fabric. I think her face is quite beautiful in this photo (which was barely enough to save her from my bottom 2), but the bored expression is doing nothing to help her fit the concept.
8. Aimee
I might like this photo better if her legs weren’t cropped out, but Aimee clearly struggled with portraying the R&B genre. There’s no tension in her pose whatsoever. Her expression is so tentative and I don’t think her face photographed all that well this week. I would’ve given Aimee another chance since she had taken some stellar previous shots, but I’m not sure how much further she could’ve gone since her overall trajectory was downward.
