First post. No profile pictures. No bio. No names. Nothing.
I’m Tom, 50% of Cycling Beyond Berlin, and I’m off sick at the moment. Michaela, the other 50%, is in Austria for a few days. Michaela or I will divulge some personal tidbits in the near future. Oh yeah, we live in Berlin. I guess I can tell you that much.
So why the blog? We’re quitting our jobs and cycling through Austria, Northern Italy, the South of France and the East coast of Spain until we can cross the Strait of Gibraltar and land in Northern Africa, Morocco to be exact. We plan to see as much of Africa as possible, and because political situations are changing weekly in certain regions, we’re not committing to anything just yet.
We’ll return to Europe when we run out of money or when our bikes become irreparable. We’re totally self-financing this trip and have no sponsorships at all. All the money we’ll have for bikes, kit, food, spare parts and whatnot will be from our savings, and from any work we can pick up along the way. If you have any suggestions for cycling sponsorships (kit, not cash), please let us know.
We’re a good few months off from leaving yet (we’re hopeful for September 2015) and so are in the planning stages still. If you have any information that you think would benefit us, please do get in touch.
