Cyclone Evan wasn't as strong as Cyclone Ian so I can only imagine how Tonga is coping right now. Love and prayers going out to all the Tokos.

Going down memory lane with this video. Malo lava Samoa le fa'amalosi! Few months later, and we're still standing strong! <3
Conspiracy theory anyone?
Some residents in worst cyclone ravaged areas on Upolu island believe that nature may have had some help in the destruction of their properties. Fingers are being pointed at the EPC operated Aloao Dam located upstream of the Vaisigano River. Angry residents believe that the quickness in which the said river breached its banks sweeping away people, homes and vehicles could've only happened if there was a dam failure. A commission of inquiry to get the bottom of this might be in order but we will have to see if the government is so inclined.

SAMOA 2012/2013
So...I'm currently going through that period of 'mourning' where you return from Samoa and all you want to do is jump on another plane and go back! Very LE manaia...
Anyway, my trip this year went from the end of November to the 2nd day of January...Just under 6 weeks!
SAMOA!
It was awesome going over, hung out with friends and family and also the unfortunate event of hanging out with Cyclone Evan. Luckily my family where I was weren't as affected compared to my other fams out in Siumu and Lefaga. Those were the areas (some of them) which were hit hard by Mr. Evan. We didn't have water for a week and power for 2 weeks. Luckily for water - there was enough rain water to go around but sadly we didn't have a water tank so that's on the agenda now. Power - wasn't too bothered with power as much as we were with water - but it was AMAZING when we got the power back on haha Never take water and power for granted EVER AGAIN!
Thanks Mr. Evan. Really. Thanks. Thank the good Lord this is all we had to deal with - rubbish.
Christmas, it was a quiet one...didn't really feel the Xmas spirit this time. Went to Church with the famz, came home and ate then slept pretty much the whole day. New Years was good though - Had some more famz over from Oz and we had an Umu with all the GM food of Samoa haha
New Years To'ona'i with the fambizzle in Hamoa.
Returning back really did suck. I'm in NZ, but my heart is in Samoa.
At Faleolo Airport - Back to NZ I sadly go...
That's just a quick summary of the amazeball trip I had :) Till the end of year again! God willing. xoxo Gossip teine.
I thought about making a fyeahkiwikiwi meme about how awful it will be/is going to be having Christmas when it is raining. However, I'm not going to do that because I realised if it's raining outside and you have a roof over your head and your family is safe then you're very lucky. There are people in Samoa and Fiji who weren't as fortunate when cyclone Evan hit. If you live in the areas where the tail of the cyclone is striking pleeeeeease listen to what Civil Defence, the Police, or the radio/tv is telling you. I know NZ has a "She'll be right" mentality, but the last thing we need this Christmas is people trapped or killed by flooding.
