I don't know what this is or why it exists, but I ran into it at a City Year training retreat at a weird Christian church compound. It was in their nature room, which was full of taxidermied animals and, improbably, an enormous live crayfish with seemingly no caretaker.
so, I don't really have anywhere to put these thoughts yet besides tumblr, so I'm just gonna leave this here:
I'm excited. "Well, excited AND scared" as my favorite Sondheim show would put it. I can't stop thinking about it, and I get excited one second and scared the next. I know it's going to be hard. Literally one of the slogans is "This is hard. Be Strong." I'm thankful because I know I will be able to be strong in the Lord, and this opportunity will allow me to serve children while working closely alongside non Christians which is super exciting. I feel like I need to start researching churches and Christian communities NOW though because I'll be crippled without it.
But, I can feel God preparing me to leave this place, this town, my community, these people. I can feel God preparing me for bigger things, and I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful that God goes before me and behind me and is still beside me.
But, tumblr, you get my silly read more rants about my feelings about City Year and my journey there. I'm still processing my emotions, but boy am I always up for a new adventure.
