cydoniaism asked you: sam/chuck, professor/student
You're delusional, Sam tells himself when he's sitting in Professor Shurley's lecture hall for the third semester in a row, hidden away in the middle rows, it's never going to happen; but that doesn't mean he has to deny himself himself the view, or deny himself the opportunity to listen to him chatter excitedly about various gods, especially if it looks good on his transcript.
And he is delusional, because Chuck's a mythology and religious studies professor that spends hours in his office and the library, and Sam's still set on becoming a lawyer and spends all of his time studying and working; they're busy and even if there were a mutual interest there (which Sam's still torn on if there is, because he does see the smiles Chuck saves just for him), it'd be almost impossible to have that relationship, right?
Still, it doesn't keep Chuck from stopping Sam on his way out of his lecture hall and congratulating him on his test score, it doesn't keep Sam from telling him stupid jokes just to watch Chuck's eyes crinkle when he laughs, or from asking him out for coffee even if he completely expects to be shut down--and it definitely doesn't keep Sam from sneaking into Chuck's office during his office hours and playing out one of his fantasies against Chuck's desk.
