What changes your character to get them to the end of the story?
As an ensemble cast, all the characters will be going through some kind of change to get them to the final fight and through the aftermath.
I’m still outlining which ground to a halt because of medical stuff, but there are going to be probably several books, each book might make a small change to a character or inform one that happens later. Like real people, knowing a thing doesn’t necessarily mean anything unless you also experience the thing.
Tristan starts the series as a sheltered and shunned Taurus boy. By the end he will have discovered his role as the vessel for the Earth Elemental Spirit, accept his place as the voice of the 3 Earth races, discover the truth behind his mother, his own asexuality, and have made some friends across multiple races and continents.
Idania was an orphan, raised in an orphanage and sold into servitude on a contract to the Ambassador of Scorpio in Lotuserna. She spent a lot of her life serving and being kind to people because she liked it but also it was the only way people would become her friend. Over the story she will encounter a lot of monstrous things, being trafficked into the Gemini’s palace as a slave girl, but once rescued, with her childhood crush of Alden, a Prince of the Scorpio, treating her and taking care of her afterward, she’ll find that people can like her just because they like her. When he leaves after the death of one of their own, she will find the will to become her own hero.
Alden starts the story thinking Lotuserna is lost, that his family is dead and the world is doomed, then goes through a bunch of trials and tribulations over the course of the story to become the reason that those closest to him are still alive.
Billy starts the story having given up on his role as the Fire vessel, choosing to spend his immortality following the Prime Directive, namely letting every race take care of themselves since he’s such a disaster. He ends the story having made the choice to do more, but ultimately having to pass on his spirit to someone else.
And Gary... Garren Grin is the vessel of Water and Air and does his best to micromanage all 6 races he has under his elemental governance. He’ll learn that his attempts to do so have drained him and he has to accept that he has to allow others to help and/or trust that the races will figure themselves out. He ends up also passing on one of his spirits to someone else as well.
I was doing pretty well with outlining and working on this, but my condition worsened when we started going to Costco and getting american foods and I started eating a bunch of sugar. My thoughts get very difficult to push through. I want to write, but it’s difficult to make that desire form into anything meaningful on the page, like my thoughts are molasses and it’s just impossible. Otherwise I might’ve gotten more progress and been working on actually writing this stuff by now.
