23 for the music drabbles

Setsulin knows how to show just about anyone a good time. She can drink most people under a table, she knows all of the dances, she can maintain her energy all night long. It’d always be a party if she had her way, but on nights like this, when she’s coaxed Cynevor out to endure some rowdy fun with her, she treats the evening like it’s the party of a lifetime. She makes sure he has everything he wants, just how he likes it, she puts on her best (and frankly most salacious) clothing, and she’s only got eyes for him. He could be resting, working, pretending to rest, worrying (always with the worrying) but he’s allowed her to whisk him away, so she is giving him the best of the loud and bright and ostentatious. She’s also letting everyone in this wild, wanton city know that she’s his.That’s true no matter where they are, but as beautiful as she is and as the Queen, even a glance from her can send a specific signal. So she focuses entirely on him and it’s easy to do, the way he looks at her, the way light catches up in his pale hair and eyes, that even if he’s exhausted, always so tired, he still enjoys seeing her enjoy herself. It’s a pleasure beyond any other booze and music and drugs and flirting can provide, belonging to this man who, when they were children, kept close to her even though she’d been ruthless with him. Who kept coming back for more and always laughed off her sharpness. Who defied almost every plan made for the trajectory of his life to marry her. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, so when he will come out to Cytolia and endure the masses for her, she looks her best, worships him with her gaze and lets him be the envy of anyone who’s got sense and even a flutter of interest for either of them. He’s too busy to seem like he’s doing anything, or anyone for that matter, on the side of their marriage, but she has plenty of dalliances. Nothing that will ever mean anything, not when she’s utterly consumed with her love for him. It’s good, to glimmer and glisten and show off while assuring everyone who admires her that that’s her man, her only, the love of her life. No one else is worthy, but him.

Oooh hi Ceph! Hope you're well <3 Let's get into TBOB shall we? I think I'll pick a couple that doesn't get talked about much too... Let's go with Setsu and Cynevor! Obvi my answers will be different from what Harrow might say, I'll tag them and see if they wanna chime in @theskeletonprior

23:What are the defining characteristics of their relationship?

I'd say their relationship is very much about trust and authenticity above anything else. As the King and Queen of White, they have a lot of rules to follow, a lot of airs to put on, and while Setsulin outright defies the expectations of being a quiet, serious Queen Piece, Cynevor unfortunately has the entire Kingdom's expectations on his shoulders and it's just unavoidable. So when they're together, alone and away from their titles and responsibilities, they are very authentic with each other. And of course every relationship needs trust, but I think this is more about always considering the other person's perspective, and trusting their intentions, because Setsulin and Cynevor are very different people! They have a lot of common interests, they fit together and love each other because their desires at the end of the day are more of a circle than a proper venn diagram lol, but they take their approaches to life differently, and value that about each other rather than finding their differences frustrating. How different they are is a strength they both acknowledge and value.

43:If they picked out outfits for each other, what would they look like? Funnily enough, they'd probably comfortably adhere to each other's fashion sense lmao Setsulin wears a lot of bold pieces, and likes to wear red, and Cynevor really likes red, so I'm guessing that would go in Setsulin's way, and Setsu would probably dress Cynevor in the rich earthy blues, dark, rich purples and pearly whites that he ends of wearing as King. Though she'd probably pick things that are more loose and comfortable than expensive formal wear, and pick things that show some skin just for the sake of being defiant lol I think they both find the other's taste in fashion pleasing even though they dress SO different from one another lol.
