Tulip Nebula
7,000 light years from Earth in the Constellation of the Swan (Cygnus), a group of O type blue giants fire out UV radiation so intense, 70 light years of Hydrogen gas is illuminated as a red glowing region, which to our human brains (or at least for some) resembles the more earthly tulip flower.
O type stars quickly run through their main sequences, some turning to Wolf Rayet stars, others quickly to supernova's and collapsing to black holes, while others to neutron stars.
They are the rock stars of our galaxy, living short but energetic lives.
