Learning to Fight
As a heads up, this is an OOC post from me, this person. Now, for those of you not in the chatzy room last night, you missed out let me tell ya, but I'm here now to fill you in on something important that came from it. Combat, specifically D&D style combat meaning dice rolls. It's a system that I learned last weekend and mod liked it and I like it because its relatively simple but effective. And questions or discrepancies can be sent to me and I will help you out as needed On a side note, weapon and pokemon stats will be gone over with mod later and I will update everyone once its worked out. So enough chatter, lets go.
So first things first, Initiative. This is how we find out who goes first and in what order. This is determined by a roll of a d20, or a 20 sided die for those not accustom to terms. Unless you have bonus speed or anything along those lines it goes in order of highest roll. From there combat begins. When you are able to attack, both attacker and defender roll a d20. If the attacker's roll is higher, then its a hit, if its lower, its a dodge and you can either attack again or move away. In the event the attacker rolls a nat 20, then its a guaranteed hit with some bonus effect, if the defender rolls a nat 20, then they can counter attack or do something to give them the upper hand. If the attacker rolls a nat 1, the defender can either counter attack or the person self inflicts damage or something bad happens, that's the overseer's choice. From hitting we do damage calculation. This part will be ironed out in due time but essentially you'll just roll anything from a d4 to a d12, then subtract armor or resistances as needed. The damage is then taken to your hp and your turn is over. While this looks big and confusing, it works well and is easier to understand when you're doing it. Remember, come to me with questions or general discussion on improvements, I sware I won't bite and I won't be offended. We're all one big group, so don't be shy.
