nyla brought her hand up to her mouth before dropping it, remembering all the times her mom told her that she needed to keep her nails even and how biting her nails was a dirty habit. she had felt hurt that she was involved in creating it but the intro of a rota was a welcome change. it was a positive reminder of the meticulously planned schedule she had at home. all of the eves ignoring it in favour of doing whatever they wanted was making her stressed. she shuddered when she thought about how the day before more eves did inventory than was necessary. something had to change but nyla couldn't implement change on her own (she would have if she could). "hi, i want to know if the rota was your idea?" she asked divya, softly. "because nobody's following it any more and i want to get things back on track."

nyla had a rude awakening, she woke up to the feeling of sunlight piercing her eyes. she bolted up straight and turned her head away from the sun. after she fully gained consciousness she began to panic. she patted at the sand around her before she remembered that her phone ran out of charge days ago and she had her watch in her luggage. the time would have to remain a mystery to her and she would have to cope with the fear that she might have wasted precious hours. she went off to the outskirts of camp to change out of the pyjamas she had claimed from lex's suitcase.

when she got back to camp she decided to do a head count as a way make herself feel useful. nyla wasn’t surprised that she didn’t find joss and erin, she thought that the two girls were probably still at their own private camp thinking they were better than the other survivors. but she was surprised that their grumpier version megan rapinoe was gone. nyla had another mystery to solve. she decided that the best way to figure out shane's whereabouts was to ask her taller other half. "do you know where shane is? is she doing her chores, fetching joss and erin or something else?" nyla inquired. there was a pause when she mentioned joss and erin. in her head she had been referring to them as the deserters but she knew she couldn't call them that out loud.

obviously, jude wasn't the first time margo had seen a friend injured. her little band were misfits were notoriously reckless and accident prone. one time margo had to yank april's arm out of a cat flap because she was high and thought a cat wanted her to follow it into it's house. but back home margo could make jokes while somebody else put a dressing on a wound or steal her mum's car to rush her friends to the hospital. all she could do on shithole island was wait and hope for the best. plus, her thoughts kept going back to jude and her head injury because of how difficult it was for her to find a distraction on the island. "hi clifford, how's your head doing?" she greeted jude, forcing a smile and casual tone. "managed to remember if you lost a fight with a hot demon yet?" she asked, playfully.
