The thing with caring for his little dove is that being outright in caring for him will only get you burned (or, well, frostbitten, in this scenario); Lolo is guarded beyond belief, all for good reason, and any attempt to break down his walls will be seen more as a threat to him than anything else. As the god of mischief, the best thing to do is to respond to Loki's trickery with something of your own. Mainly, leading him to believe he's manipulating you into giving up the throne of your --
– planet, when in actuality, you’re using that as an excuse to look after him. He wants to stay close in order to overthrow you, sure, but in the end, he’s at your side and lettng you call him things like “Lokitty” without so much as an eyeroll. Because at some point, he realized he became somewhat comfortable in the life he was pretending to lead. Actually caring for him, though, that’s the fun part. He isn’t used to gentle touches, or soft kisses, or muttered praise, even if that’s exactly–
– what he needs. And it is. It is a pleasure to be the one to get that frozen heart of his to thaw under your fingertips. Though, caring for him comes with its own hardships. He’s a trickster. He will try to betray you first, because he fears you’ll betray him. The best course is to forgive him. Show him kindness in ways he has probably never experienced. Though he probably won’t ever say it, he will show you his thanks in other ways. Cherish that, and him. He is well worth any heartache.
