17. “Are you insane?!”
Wild eyes grazed over the brunette before her. Though morality was never in question with Charlotte’s way of nature. It was the simple idea of being a scientist. There had been a rise in the questionable morals of the council lately. Somehow, it was leaked. In the close circuit of members, there had somehow been a leak of the information they clutched so desperately to their chest. The entire city knew what the council had done. The feats to stop everything all together. There had been an emergency patch of a meeting in an unusual area. The council doors had already fell to the select majority of angered citizens. Their lives were being threatened, misconceived. It was hard to fear a body of power when they were indefinitely outnumbered. Through all this chaos, Trix spoke. She spoke of a strange truth, taking it upon herself to hunt down the remaining members of the group that planned the bonfire incident. Charlotte was livid. It was the first time the brunette had spoken in the entirety of the meeting. Dahlia was folded against her chair, eyes cast over as if she couldn’t bring herself to speak. The majority of the council looked defeated. There was no clear way to move. They were extremely vulnerable in the game of chess. “You said you didn’t get anything out of him. So, you’re telling me you kept this to yourself the entire time? What the hell where you thinking? Whose skin do you think you can save? The entire city KNOWS. They know what we did. They know that we hid fucking murder for you. & you couldn’t help but lie to protect your own ass.”
