The Wolfpack
Classification: AOH-SM Biotechnologic Hunter-Killer Leviathan L-001 “Wolfpack”
Size: Estimated 2200ft/670m in length, estimated 1950ft/594m wingspan
Loadout: Subsonic and supersonic torpedoes of unknown make (Damage reports indicate non-nuclear payloads), submarine-launch anti-aircraft missiles of unknown make (Damage reports unavailable. Eyewitnesses to explosions believe payloads to be non-nuclear. Existence of eyewitnesses lends credence to belief). Damage reports show some subs being crushed above crush depth with no other damage, indicating the Wolfpack will use its hands if the opportunity presents itself; it is not clear if this is a logistical decision or for sadistic enjoyment.
Other Intel: Possesses sonar capabilities (active confirmed, passive likely). Outer skin layer shifts with movement to erode sonar echoes. Photonic feeds indicate bioluminescence or implanted light fixtures. Lack of wounds or damage indicates imperviousness to Terran Unified Bulwark weaponry, or advanced healing and self-repair capabilities. Sonar data indicates capability of vocal communication.
Known Missing Data: Content of submarine-like parts of the Wolfpack’s body. Internal biology of the Wolfpack’s body. The Wolfpack’s maximum tolerable depth, if any. Weaknesses.
The Wolfpack appears as a frightful mix between an angel, a mermaid, and a fleet of submarines. A gargantuan humanoid torso with gnarled skin embedded with the unknown metal alloy that all AOH technology is made of, powerful arms that end in great, partially-webbed hands, with immense wings sprouting from its back. Tentacle-like structures grow from the edges of these wings, the ends of which hold submarine-like organs. From the Wolfpack’s waist leads an enormous tail, which appears to provide most of the Wolfpack’s thrust. Around the tail is a “skirt” of approximately twelve of the same submarine-bearing tentacles on the Wolfpack’s wings, with each tentacle an irregular length. Upon its head are loose but long strands of hairlike structure, believed ot be used as a towed passive sonar array.
The Wolfpack appears to be able to shift in and out of an ultraquiet state; only its submarine fleet is clearly visible on active sonar in this state, giving it its nickname. However, x-ray imaging and biometric scans still see the main body of the Wolfpack, and reveal the submarine’s internal connection to that body. When leaving ultraquiet rigging, its bioluminescence illuminates the majority of its body. Photonic images of its face reveal a humanoid facial structure, with white eyes and an exceedingly wide mouth, covered in the same gnarled skin as the rest of its body; Kamini Alharizi of the HMF Development Frontier has been quoted, “there is no beauty in this angel”.
The Wolfpack first appeared in May 2087, and is believed to maintain total marine control in the Pacific Ocean (last datum confirmed March 2088 by a jet launched from the TBWS Marionette).
Like all Leviathan-class units in the Army of Heaven, the ultimate purpose of the Wolfpack is currently unknown, but it has attacked every convoy that has attempted to cross the Pacific, indicating that it attempts to fracture the delicate resource trains that power most of our divisions, with the exception of the Bulwark’s HMF Development Frontier.
The Wolfpack has surfaced once, when attacking the aircraft carrier TBWS Marionette after destroying its submarine convoy in March 2088. The pilot of the only surviving jet suffers from episodes of complete unresponsiveness to stimuli when questioned about the Wolfpack, and has developed an extreme aversion to images of burned flesh, especially of burned faces. It is believed that she may have come face to face with the Wolfpack while retreating, which has resulted in post-traumatic stress disorder. Cases of post-traumatic stress disorder are also apparent in many of those who have in person seen the faces of AOH-L Biotechnologic Assault Unit Leviathan L-002 “Oppressor” and AOH-A Biotechnologic Tactical Bomber Leviathan L-003 “Starstorm”.
Kamini Alharizi and Danica Catlin of the HMF Development Frontier have developed a submarine theoretically capable of matching the Wolfpack; the TBWB HMF Graviton-Wing Goliath Submarine “Elasmosaur”.
